Whenever you're in a
hiirry for hot water—
who docs the "running?" YOU or the faucet? Must
jou race downstairs to build a fire, upstairs to wait
for results and then down again to bank it? Or do you
hurry to the kitchen to heat a bi'sinful in the tea kettle?
Fot a few pennies pet day per person, you can have
"running hot water" from any fauctt, at any instant. A
thrifty Self-Action Gas Water Heater will supply an
unfailing reserve for bathing, shaving, house-cleaning,
•he dishes or the laundry. Phone, and we'll give you
actual installation and operating costs.

had advocated a tax on oats, or a

The Idea of a gasoline tax to pay

increased land value which the
roads create.

Chatham Journeyed to Rockaway to play the first League game
of. the season. Saturday. The game
started with Malecz, of Rockaway
kicking to Chatham. Fichter stopped the Chatham ball carrier in his
tracks. Both teams played hard to
score but the ball seemed to stay in
the middle of the field the first half
of the game. Coach Horaskos boys
were full of pep and fight as they
lined up to receive the kick from
Chatham
They started a march
down the field which ended on the
Chatham five-yard line. Failing to
score by a pass over the line the
ball was taken out to the twentyyard line and Chatham, having the
ball in their possession tried a few
line bucks that didnt work. The ball
rested on Chatham's one-yard line
at the end of the third down The
next play caused much excitement
because the Chatham back fumbled
and half the Rockaway team downed him behind his own goal line.
The Rockaway boys played a wonderful defense game. The fourth
quarter started with Rockaway
pushing the Chatham boys down
the field. Chatham was on their
own 15-yard line when two Rockaway tackles charged in to block a
kick. Stefanic, of Rockaway, recovered the ball on Chatham's 5yard line. Pcrrone. a flashy little
quarterback, took the ball across
for the first touchdown. For the
extra point, Perrone. used a pass
which went wild. The Rockaway
team started a marathon down the
field when the whistle blew ending
the game in Rockaways favor 8 to 0.

SERVICE

HAT if all the banks in the country should
suddenly withdraw all checking privileges?
Think of the stupendous shortage in working funds—
most businesK today is transacted with checks. Think
of the appalling standstill in business—the sudden
sweeping away of thn greatest system of financial
safeguarding in the world—the vast amount of bookkeeping thrust upon those whose business is done
witli eheeUs.
Are Checking Accounts used without thought as to the groal cost
involved? Special Accountants assert that it costs from 4 cents to
7 cents to negotiate a check, and the issuance of even ten cheeks
a month absorbs the bank's earning on a $100 balance.
Who pays for all ths accounting, handling and
funds? The bank, of course.
protection
of
Realization of this situation lias forced banks all over the country
to institute a Service Charge on Checking Accounts which maintain insufficient balances. The policy is fair—to the depositor
himself—to other depositors—to the bank and its employees.
Therefore, these banks will add a Service Charge to eacli Checking Account showing an unprofitable balance. It is our hope that
although the Service Charge is small, all our depositors will build
up their balances so as to make the charge unnecessary.
