The objective of the grant is to to support Vietnam to become ready for future REDD+ implementation by preparing the key
elements, systems and policies needed in a socially and environmentally sound manner.

Overall workprogram was developed and is being reviewed by the Bank. The first 18 month procurement plan was revised and
given NOL by the Bank. The key staffing positions were mobilized and implementation of the large work packages are
expedited.

Vietnam REDD+ network is active and open to all interested stakeholders. The network meets regularly, as well as sub-working
groups where donors' programs activities are shared and consulted.
2. Describe any important changes in the technical design or approach related to the Grant activities.

3. Describe progress in addressing key capacity issues (implementation, technical, financial management,
procurement) related to this Grant.
A full time director position was appointed to manage the FCPF grant (and the UNREDD phase 2). Key staff positions were
recruited, including a coordinator, a procurement officer, a financial management officer and a forestry specialist.
4. Describe progress in addressing social and environmental issues (including safeguards) related to the Grant.
Is the SESA conducted in accordance with the Common Approach?
The consultation on the SESA was conducted and comments were received. The finalization of the SESA is being done.
5. Is the ESMF prepared in accordance with the Common Approach?
the ESMF will be prepared as part of the SESA.

The Vietnam REDD Office webpage is active which includes information on the FCPF and discloses the key documents of the
grant. Stakeholders consultation took place for the key packages TORs such as the SESA and the approach to supporting the
REDD service provision of the State Forest Companies.
