HOW IS VIRGINIA’S GOVERNMENT SET-UP?
Virginia is divided into 3 branches. Each branch has different
responsibilities. The branches are:
1. The General Assembly, which is known as the legislative branch
of Virginia’s government. The General Assembly makes the
laws. It is divided into 2 parts. The SENATE and HOUSE OF
DELEGATES.

2. Executive Branch is headed by the Governor. The Executive
Branch makes sure all laws are carried out or enforced.

Judicial Branch is the state’s Court system. The Judicial Branch:
1. decides cases about people accused of breaking the law
2. decides whether or not a law agrees with Virginia’s constitution
