Neuromuscular Dentistry What are the symptoms? How can you

Neuromuscular Dentistry
Headaches, sinus problems, dizziness and even snoring can all be symptoms of a bite that is out of alignment. This
condition is called malocclusion. It can result in the muscles of the head and neck working harder to compensate for
the misalignment.
Unfortunately, symptoms of malocclusion are often misdiagnosed. This usually leads to unnecessary or even ineffective treatment. Advances in the science of complete dentistry have taught us how to bring the jaw into a relaxed position to help ease years of pain and discomfort.
Who is affected?
What are the symptoms?
Temporomandibular joint disease (also known as TMD
or TMJ) affects 75 million people. It is a chronic, degenerative disease that may take years to develop. People
who suffer from TMD have a structural imbalance in
their jaw-to-skull relationship, caused by a bad bite. This
disease causes the following:
You may be a candidate for the neuromuscular repositioning of your jaw if you experience any of the following symptoms on a regular basis:
• Excessive pressure on the temporomandibular joint
and surrounding tissues, causing alterations of the
joint’s position.
• The jaw to twist into a strained position, affecting
the muscles in the face, back, neck and shoulders.
How can you help me?
As a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced
Dental Studies, Dr. Rose is at the forefront of dentistry.
He has training on how to treat the neuromuscular
symptoms of a patient with a poor bite. When Dr. Rose
encounters someone with a poor bite he will recommend a treatment plan to correct it, easing pain and
discomfort.
Dr. Rose is capable of diagnosing TMJ, bite problems,
headaches and other neuromuscular dental problems.
He does this using technology including sonography,
electrical muscle stimulation, jaw tracking, and electromyography. This may sound a bit intimidating, but the
procedures are actually gentle and quite painless. In the
end, they leave your muscles more relaxed in a more
natural position.
• Headaches or migraines
• Unexplained loose teeth
• Worn, chipped or cracked teeth
• Cracked, chipped or broken dental restorations
• Pain or soreness around the jaw joints
• Pain in teeth that seems to move
• Neck, shoulder or back pain
• Facial pain
• Clicking or grating sounds in the jaw joints
• Limited movement or locking jaw
• Numbness in your fingers and arms
• Congestion of stuffiness of the ears
How will I look after treatment?
Following treatment to correct neuromuscular dental
problems, collapsed bite, and TMJ, most patients experience a significant decrease if not a complete disappearance of symptoms. Imagine living headache free
after enduring the pain for years! As an added bonus,
most patients also report positive aesthetic results some are even asked if they’ve had a facelift.
For a permanent solution to correct malocclusion, Dr.
Rose may recommend dental restorations. These raise
or lower areas of your bite to create a naturally comfortable position for your teeth. In most cases, he can reposition your jaw without surgery or braces; completing
the treatment in a few short weeks.
