Additional Motorcycle Parking Zones (A02/0638)
Report dated 2 June 2010 from the Divisional Manager, Technical Services about introducing an
additional motorcycle parking only zone in Hall Street, Bondi Beach.
Council’s Proposal:
That Council –
1. Receive and note the contents of this report.
2. Approve the installation of 2P motorcycle only parking zone (5m in length) and signage on
the north side of Hall Street adjacent to 27 Hall Street, Bondi Beach.
Purpose of Report
To approve the installation of a motorcycle only parking zone in Hall Street, Bondi Beach.
A map detailing the proposed location in Hall Street, Bondi Beach is attached for Traffic
Committee’s information.
Introduction
To encourage more residents and visitors to use motorcycles and scooters, Council is
recommending installing a new motorcycle parking zone in a convenient and highly visible area
of Hall Street, Bondi Beach. It is also necessary to increase the availability of motorcycle parking
due to the increase in demand for these facilities.
Technical Analysis
Currently all available motorcycle parking in Bondi Beach is well utilised. Council has received
many requests from motorcyclists to install an additional motorcycle zone closer to the
commercial area of Bondi Beach due to increased demand, as well as for convenience and
security reasons.
It is proposed to install a 5m motorcycle parking zone (two hour restricted time limit) on the north
side of Hall Street, Bondi Beach adjacent to 27 Hall Street. Unrestricted motorcycle parking is
available in Ramsgate Avenue and Queen Elizabeth Drive.
Financial Information for Council’s Consideration
Council will meet the cost of installing motorcycle parking only signage.
