FREEDOM FROM HOLES in disposable gloves (understanding AQL) What is AQL? Regulatory agencies allow a certain number of failures (holes) in every lot of disposable gloves that a manufacturer produces. That number is called an “Acceptable Quality Level” – or AQL. AQL 4.0 How Is AQL Tested? Using random sampling from every production lot, quality testers fill gloves with water and check for pinhole defects (leaks). AQL 1.5 Why Is AQL Important? AQL tests measure and rate the barrier integrity of disposable gloves. Low AQL numbers indicate fewer pinhole defects, and higher levels of quality.
