February 2017
Community School News
This year we will be celebrating Canada's 150th
birthday with our monthly birthday bashes. Every
month, all students and staff with a birthday
during the month will get to come together, and
celebrate their birthday with others celebrating
during the month. Our January birthday bash will
be held on Feb. 2nd because of exam week.
February birthday bash will be Feb. 23rd. This will
be going on until Dec. 2017, so we won't miss any
of our fall birthdays.
We want to say a great big thanks to the Jemseg
Lions Club and the C-NCS Leo Club for the
purchase of 2 Spark bikes for our school. The
bikes are in use in two of our Elementary
classrooms. We are actively seeking sponsorship
for more bikes for our classes. If you know
anyone, or any business, that may be interested,
please contact Marcy at the school.
Community Food Smart orders will be going in on
Feb. 1st, and be here for pick up on Feb. 8th. Please
make sure you return your bag monthly. Bag
replacement fees are $2. We will also be asking
people who have not renewed their memberships
to make sure they do so this month.
The DISH Chinese New Year celebration has been
moved forward to Feb. 6th because of the storm
days last week. Our middle level January DISH
group will be preparing the meal, and it is open to
all students and staff for purchase. Watch for
Farm to School order forms going home later this
week.
We're looking forward to more fun winter-time
activities thanks to the RBC Learn to Play
grant. We have some fun activities lined up such
as archery, orienteering, hip hop dancing, and
more. Even though the weather may be dull and
dreary, keeping our students active is a positive
way to keep them healthy.
Flower’s for Sale
The Student Council will be selling flowers for
Valentines Day the week of Feb 6-10th for $2.00.
Order Forms will go out next week.
Winter Carnival
Keep an eye out for the Winter Carnival flyer
which will come out soon. Winter Carnival will
take place the week of February 27th – March 3rd.
Elementary Drama in Need of Costumes
The elementary drama production this year
requires some costumes to be sewn from the
same material to fit students of different ages. If
you, or a group, would be interested in taking on
this project it would be very much appreciated.
Please contact the school, and leave your name
with Sandra.
