Tri-City CYMHSU Year in Review

Hi Everyone,
Happy holidays! Before the year ends, I thought I would send an email to thank each and every one
of you for the time that you have spent working on the Tri-Cities CYMHSU Local Action team to
improve mental health and substance use services in the community. Below is a year in review of
our successes and journey together so far:
2015 Year in Review of Successes for Tri-Cities LAT:
• Team formed
o Co-Chairs Identified: Dr. Lili Nasseri and Doug Behm
o Diverse Members From the Tri-Cities Community (e.g. MCFD, School District 43,
Parents, Youth, Public, RCMP, Force Society, Fraser Health, PSP, Vyper, Kwikwetlem
First Nations, ACCESS, SHARE, Tri-Cities Youth Substance Outreach Services, Key
Worker Services CDBC Programs)
• Team chartlet and aim statements identified
• Narrowed down to 6 potential changes to try (Hub clinics, Public education forums, AA/NA
for Youth, Rapid Access Clinics in Schools, School Peer Support Training Program)
• Identified Two Projects: Educational Forums and Working Groups
o Formed Two Working Groups: Educational Forum (Lead: Dr. Lili Nasseri, Anna
Lemmo, Ocean van Samang) and Hub Clinic (Lead: Doug Behm)
o Hub Clinic Working Group has submitted a proposal to Fraser Health for additional
funding to add to Collaborative Funds (Letters of support from many community
partners, including Mayor Stewart)
o Educational Forum Working Group has a draft template of workshops to be held in
schools to increase awareness (e.g. Anxiety workshop)
Both working groups will be meeting in January 2016 to start moving the projects forward.
We have a lot of successes so far to be proud of, and moving forward, I believe that we will have an
even more successful 2016!
Based upon feedback, I will try to send monthly updates of team progress to everyone, in case some
people are not able to attend meetings or is not part of a specific working group.
Thanks so much and wishing everyone a nice end to 2015, and a fantastic start to 2016!
