Only 4% of districts across the nation receive the prestigious award in 2017. Our qualification for the recognition was measured by a series questions regarding funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. These educators also provide in-depth education towards state and national standards while preparing for productions. The students of FMS receive an an all-encompassing music education. FHS Students to compete in National Competition “Music has given me a place to belong, and people I belong with. It has shown me who I want to be and what I want to do with my life”-Loreena Cain, PVHS Band Student short film that was presented in the district’s FLI Showcase. The duo once again will participate in the FLI Showcase May 6, with an animation project. Llyr Biehler and Nick Mayeux Act Out Biehler and Mayeux also have been involved in the Farmington High School Drama programs since their freshman years. With the guidance and direction of Steven Clark, theater director, they have blossomed into talented comedic and dramatic actors. Their repertoires include roles in Mousetrap, Beowulf, The Hobbit, Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and Ward’OZ, the futuristic adaption of The Wizard of Oz. Submitted by Debra Mayeux Llyr Biehler and Nick Mayeux will represent Farmington Municipal Schools this summer in the International Thespian Festival at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. The Farmington High School students earned an opportunity to perform at the festival after receiving superior marks on a dramatic duet at the New Mexico Thespian Festival earlier this year. They performed an adaptation of C. S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters. Biehler and Mayeux both are members of the International Thespian Society’s Troupe 381. Mayeux also is a member of the National Honor Society. These young men thank their drama teacher, Steven Clark, and Farmington Municipal Schools for the opportunity to develop their talents and participate in the upcoming Thespian Festival. Biehler, a senior, and Mayeux, a junior, have been collaborating on artistic endeavors for the past two years.
