Dropped-in Subordinate Clauses
Section A: Write 3 sentences for each picture to distinguish between the people/items:
1)
The person was first.  The person, who was a woman, was first.
The person was second.
The person was third.
2)
The jumper was the coolest.
The jumper was the itchiest.
The jumper was the most expensive.
3)
The man was the thief.
The man saw what happened.
The man did not see anything.
Section B: Complete the sentences by adding a dropped-in subordinate clause
(try to start with ‘which’, ‘who’, ‘that’ or a verb)
1) The house, ___________________, was the most luxurious.
2) He wanted the toy, __________________, for his birthday.
3) The cartoon, _________________, was by far the funniest she had seen.
4) The child, ________________, was really frightened.
5) The take-away, ________________, sells the best pizzas in town!
Section C: Add one main clause before and after the given subordinate clause:
1) that was too heavy to carry  The suitcase, that was too heavy to carry, had to be left behind.
2) opening the door quietly
3) which was very late
4) who was the meanest
5) who was twice his size
Section D: Write a paragraph introducing these aliens. E.g.:
Zegob, who had seven eyes, was by far the friendliest.
