WRITING AT THE BEGINNER LEVEL
At the end of the Beginner level, students are expected to:



write the letters of the alphabet.
use correct punctuation, capitalisation and spacing to form words, simple
phrases and sentences to communicate simple information.
spell level words correctly.
BEGINNER LEVEL (BEG) END OF LEVEL 'CAN-DO' STATEMENTS
By the end of the Beginner level, students can:




use correct word order to form basic sentences.
use level grammar and vocabulary to communicate basic information.
use correct punctuation, spelling, and capitalization.
write around 40 words about everyday topics.
BEGINNER LEVEL STUDENT WRITING SAMPLES
The following two student samples (Samples 1 & 2) show good writing at the end of the
Beginner level and show that there are different ways of doing this. The first two
samples show that those student are ready for the Elementary level but the last two
samples (Samples 3 & 4) need more work.
NOTE: 1 correct sentence = 1 point, 1 incorrect sentence = 0 point
