And, for the long haul, want to find new ways to create a permanent savings plan for yourself and for your loved ones? Try some of these savings tips from several experts in retailing and finance, which appeared in a recent issue of Money Magazine. One or all of them could help you reorganize your financial life and find some new savings. Sock It Away, Right Away: “People feel less guilt about spending their paycheck than they do their savings. Avoid temptation: Divert more of your pay straight into savings.” - George Loewenstein, economics professor, Carnegie Mellon University Get In and Get Out: “About 40% of purchases are impulse buys, so stores are designed to keep you as long as possible, often by creating a pleasant atmosphere or by being tough to navigate. Don’t fall for it – shop with purpose.” - Sheri Bridges, Director, Center for Retail Innovation, Wake Forest University Conduct a “What was I thinking?’ audit: “A post-mortem is better than a budget, because you see how you actually spend your money – not how you wish you did. Comb through your bank and credit card statements annually.” - Jeff Yeager, author of ‘How to Retire the Cheapskate Way’ Know what you’re missing: “Rather than wonder whether your daily latte is worth the splurge, compare it with another indulgence. Drop the one that gives you less pleasure.” - Loewenstein Do a Trash-Can Autopsy: “It may sound gross, but looking through your trash (and recycling) can tell you a lot about what you waste. Are there certain foods you always end up tossing? How much did you spend on stuff from all those catalogues?” - Yeager Want to discuss financial planning in greater detail? Talk to someone about getting a mortgage? Get a better rate on your insurance needs? Talk about one-stop shopping! It’s all available – from real people, ready to meet with you face-to-face, at all South Jersey Federal Credit Union branches! It’s all about partnership visibility. A whole range of SJFCU’s “In-Person Partners” make themselves available to you, our members, at each of our six branches on a regular schedule. It’s an opportunity to get any and all of your questions answered, and learn about great rates, great deals, and opportunities for savings and coverage you may not have heard about otherwise. • David Graham, our financial planning consultant with LPL Financial, has an office in our Deptford branch and is always available to set up appointments to discuss long-range financial solutions for you and your family’s needs. • One aspect of our ongoing partnership with Enterprise Car Sales are the regular visits by Enterprise sales representatives to all branches. There, they assist staff, answer member questions, and keep all parties informed and updated on upcoming sales. Also, the Enterprise people can discuss your particular vehicle needs and can arrange for you to view a car or truck that matches your requirements. • Have questions concerning insurance – whether life insurance, auto insurance or protection for your home? Representatives from both PFP Services (a long-time credit union affiliate) and Liberty Mutual Insurance also have regular scheduled stops at all of our branches. Just call or ask any of our branch staff when they next expect a visit from these knowledgeable representatives. Thursday July 4 - Independence Day • Two experts with a combined 40-plus years of experience in mortgages and banking – Joe Giacobbe and Gary Knight – have a set schedule of visiting our branches to meet with you about a first mortgage! Joe is at Camden on Tuesdays, Voorhees each Wednesday and Deptford each Friday. Gary visits Moorestown each Monday, stops at Vineland on Thursdays, and at Pleasantville on Fridays. Each day they are at their designated branch from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. – so stop by to see them on the day they visit the branch closest to you. www.SouthJerseyFCU.com 800-582-7640 IMPORTANT DATES Please note that all branches will be closed on:
