Nursery Curriculum Newsletter Summer 1 Personal, Social and Emotional Development We will be learning to recognise and talk about different feelings and emotions through reading a selection of stories We will encourage the children to dress and undress themselves at PE times show care and concern for others, living things and the environment Communication, Language and Literacy We will be Learning about voice sounds and blending the sounds in simple words as part of our Letters and Sounds Program Reading stories and singing songs about the jungle and its animals and insects Reading non-fiction books about plants, new life and how we grow and change, Tracing pictures of Rainforest animals and insects Listening to others and recalling our own experiences at chat time Growing and Living Things Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy We will be developing our understanding of recognising numerals to 10 and selecting the correct numeral to represent up to 10 objects estimating a number of objects and counting them adding and taking away using different groups of objects using mathematical vocabulary i.e. heavier/lighter, taller/shorter, more/less using positional language using ordinal numbers Nursery Curriculum Newsletter Knowledge and Understanding of the World We will be finding out about plants, new life, growth and change over time the natural world: looking at the features of living things planting seeds and talking about how they grow comparing what we can do now to when we were younger Creative Development Our theme will be growing and living things. We will also be developing our imagination and creating stories based around our structured play theme ‘The Rainforest’ creating pictures of animals that live in the rainforest, exploring colour and developing our knowledge of the natural world exploring music & dance, representing the sounds of the rainforest and the animals found there Creating our own musical instruments PLEASE NOTE P.E. P.E. will continue to be on a Monday. Please send your child in shorts and a tshirt with their school jumper and skirt or trousers over the top. Please put your child in trainers in case we do P.E. outside. Summer 1 Please make sure your child’s clothes are clearly labeled with their names to avoid mix ups. During the warm weather, please put sun cream on your child and send them with a water bottle and a hat.
