CITY UTILITY
WORKERS HAVE ID
BADGES
All city staff
members including
the Boerne Utilities
crews have city issued
identification badges and most
wear uniforms with the city’s logo.
All of the City of Boerne utility
vehicles have the city logo on the
doors. If someone approaches
you at your home claiming to be a
city worker, ask for their
identification for proof that they
are in fact a city employee.
There are also many other utility
workers in the area from the
Bandera and Pedernales Electric
Utilities and from telephone and
internet providers such as
Verizon, GVTC, and Time Warner.
If concerned about a specific
vehicle or person, residents
should check the vehicle for
signage, or company logos, ask
for identification if necessary, then
contact the appropriate company.
If questions related to a City of
Boerne vehicle or utility crew,
please call the Utilities Customer
Service Office at 830-249-9511.

be repaired if any unsafe condition
is discovered. Plumbers and
heating contractors can assist in
the locating, inspecting, and repair
of customer-owned piping. If you
have questions regarding the
maintenance of customer-owned
natural gas piping, call the Public
Works office at 830-248-1538.

ANIMAL CONTROL
ORDINANCE
Residents need to be aware of
the city’s Animal Control
Ordinance. The ordinance states:
 The owner shall keep his dog
under
restraint at
all times
and shall
not permit
such dog to be at large, off the
premises or property of the
owner, unless under physical
restraint and in control of a
competent person.
The rules that apply to rabies
vaccinations are:
 Dogs and cats owned within the
city limits shall be vaccinated
against rabies by 4 months of
age and on a 1 year or 3 year
basis thereafter, depending on
the type of vaccine used.* No
person shall own, keep or
harbor a dog or cat over the
age of 4 months within the city
limits unless it has been so
vaccinated by a licensed
veterinarian with a rabies
vaccine. The dog or cat shall
be issued an annual city license
tag so long as the rabies
vaccination certificate
presented is current.*
For an animal to be
considered
currently
vaccinated
against
rabies, at
least 30 days must have
elapsed since the initial
vaccination and not more than
12 or 36 months (depending on
the vaccine used)* can have
elapsed since the last
vaccination.
*All dogs and cats must receive
a second rabies vaccination
within one year of receiving
their first vaccination,
regardless of the type of
vaccine used or the age at
which the animal was initially
vaccinated.
Please note: Cats and dogs are
still required to be licensed with
the City of Boerne on an annual
basis. Ask your veterinarian if
they have the City Licenses or feel
free to come by the Animal
Services Center located at 330 S.
Esser Road and the staff will be
happy to assist you.
