Issue #35 LINES FROM THE LAKE SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2016 A NOTE FROM YOUR CLUB MANAGER Everyone here at Hampton Lake is looking forward to the fall! The pool area was the most popular amenity over the summer and the changes to the pool deck and better access to the Tower Bar proved to be very beneficial. We encourage you to join us for September activities beginning with Labor Day weekend. The staff has a full line-up of events planned for the long weekend. September 17th is the Tiger Bass Race, an event we are very proud of and showcases the best in our community. Hundreds of volunteers work together to host a race for 300- 500 runners in order to better the lives of some less fortunate in the Lowcountry. BJVIM, Memory Matters and Soles 4 Souls are charities that will benefit from this year’s event. We would like to thank all those responsible for making this event what it has become! The Lakeside Village Market will take place October 1st. The event is free and open to the public. Talented members, small businesses and local artisans will display their wares. Additionally there will be face painting, the Bluffton Fire Department Fire Truck, local honey, sweet treats, kettle corn and more for all to enjoy. The Captain’s Cup, our premier memberguest fishing event, will take place October 21st - 23rd. We are anticipating for one of the largest to date. FISHNETS TENNIS TIP Hand Signals: As many of you progress in doubles, you and your partner may start using hand signals when serving. The key to using hand signals with your partner is to be on the same page and keep things simple. My advice is to use a close fist signal to stay, an open hand signal to poach, and a single finger to fake. Make sure you practice with your partner before you use them in a match! -From Tennis Pro Mike O’Regan THE SPA Join us for an Open House at the Spa and Fitness Central on Thursday October 6th from 5pm to 7pm. If you are willing to serve the community as a volunteer in some capacity, please fill out a Volunteer Profile. The information you provide will be included in a database to be used by management and the board of directors when volunteers or particular expertise are needed. The link to this profile can be found in the Weekly Updates. FACILTIES UPDATES The most important project scheduled this fall is the painting of our Amenities. Lucas Design has been awarded the contract for completing this task.
