Islam in Prophecy? Matthew 24:4-6 (NKJV) 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6 "And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:7-8 (NKJV) 7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 "All these are the beginning of sorrows. What is the difference between Islam and Muslim? “Islam is peace” Islam does NOT mean peace. It means “submission”. The only way that Islam will bring peace is by WORLD DOMINATION. ISLAM is the name of the religion… MUSLIM is the title for adherents of the Islamic faith. WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT ISLAM? Why Would Christians and Believers in the Way need to know anything about Islam? QUESTION: Who on this planet is watching and waiting for the return of Jesus Christ? 2.1 Billion Christians 1.5 Billion Muslims Yes, 1.5 billion Muslims are anxiously awaiting the return of Jesus Christ! The religion of Islam reveres Jesus Christ, not as the Son of God, but as a prophet. They call him “Isa Al-Maseeh” [Jesus the Messiah]. They believe that he ascended to heaven and will return again. 2.1 Billion Christians 1.5 Billion Muslims What is the FASTEST growing religion on earth today? Islam Islam is currently growing 4x faster than Christianity. By 2055 half of all births will be to Muslim families. Deuteronomy 28:43 (KJV) 43 The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. Islamists, like Christians, have beliefs, prophecies, and expectations about end-time events. But… unlike Christians, there is little doubt among Muslims about end-time events. How many professing “Christians” actually BELIEVE that Jesus Christ will literally return to this earth? According to a 2006 poll by PEW RESEARCH CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND THE PRESS 79% of professing Christians say YES. But only 20% believe it could occur within their lifetime. Christians can have doubts about the second coming and still be in good standing with their churches. But Muslims have FIVE TENETS of belief with which they must agree: FIVE TENETS OF ISLAMIC FAITH 1. Belief in Allah. 2. Belief in the Last Day. 3. Belief in Angels. 4. Belief in the Scripture. 5. Belief in the Prophets. Belief in Allah Muslims believe that Allah is the true creator and the God of Abraham. They believe that Jews and Christians have perverted the Bible so that it is no longer a dependable witness of God. Belief in the Last Day Belief in the Last Day indicates FAITH that Islamic prophecies will come to pass, Islam will conquer the world; bringing peace through the global imposition of Sharia [Muslim] law. It also includes the acceptance that there will be MAJOR signs. These include the appearance of: Ad-Dajjal (the Muslim Anti-Christ – a Jew), Isa Al-Maseeh (Jesus Christ), and Al-Mahdi (a Muslim savior/Messiah figure) Belief in Angels Belief in Angels is critical to Muslim faith. It was by the hand of a spirit being (they believe it was the arch-angel Gabriel) that Mohammed was given the true understanding of Allah and the religion of Islam. Belief in the Scripture The scripture mentioned here means the Quran of course. But it also includes others: The Sunna The Hadith The Quran The Quran is the foundational book of Islam. It was conveyed entirely by Mohammed, the founder and prophet of Islam. Quran literally means “recitation” or “reading” in Arabic. It is composed of 114 chapters called “Surahs”. The Sunna “The Sunna” in Arabic literally means “a clear or well trodden path”. Without the Sunna the Quran cannot be properly understood. It is the record of the sayings, customs, examples, and teachings of Mohammed. He left the Sunna as an example for all human beings to follow. It could be considered the direct teaching from Mohammed. The Hadith “The Hadith is the source of much of the Muslim beliefs about the end-times. Hadith is specifically the recorded sayings of Mohammed, and is one of the sources from which the Sunna draws information and inspiration. Belief in the Prophets There are no true Muslims who do not believe in the prophets. This emblem is known as the Shahada. It says (in Arabic): There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is His Prophet. As we saw before, Muslims ALSO believe in Jesus. They believe that Jesus will return and convert Jews and Christians to Islam. What will happen to those who refuse to convert? They will be considered infidels and will face the sword of Jesus. Imagine that. Muslims see Jesus Christ as the prophet of Allah and the ULTIMATE evangelist for Islam. Those who do not convert will be beheaded. Barbaric? Unlikely? REVELATION 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Beheading is a popular thing in Islamic justice. How often have we witnessed this very method of execution in Muslim countries in recent history? Muslims believe that Jesus will be the chief enforcer of Allah and the servant of the Mahdi. Al-Mahdi means “the guided one” in Arabic. He is also referred to as the “Lord of the Age” and “the Awaited One”. (Consider who the Bible says is the ruler of this age - 2 Cor 4:4) The arrival of the Muslim Jesus and the Madhi are MAJOR signs in Muslim Eschatology. Isn’t it interesting that there will be TWO major Islamic figures in the Muslim end-time scenario? One is a religious figure (Jesus) The other is a military/governmental figure. These two individuals could be mistaken for the Two Witnesses But more likely, they will be recognized as (at least by Biblical Christians) The Beast and the False Prophet From the book of Revelation. The Madhi is prophesied to arrive on the scene in a time of great international turmoil. He is to be a man from the family of Mohammed. He brings peace and order by establishing a worldwide caliphate global Muslim rule. Mahdi is the prophesied “Twelfth Imam” He is to conquer Israel. He is said to have miraculous control over the weather. The Mahdi will be a rider on a white horse. See Revelation 6:2. Revelation 6:2 (KJV) 2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. The Mahdi will bring up the Ark of the Covenant from the Sea of Tiberias [or Galilee] and will produce previously undiscovered scrolls from both the Old and New Testaments. With these he will confound and covert the Jews and Christians. The Mahdi will also make a seven year covenant with a Jewish man of the lineage of Aaron (representing the Levitical priesthood). As the supreme Caliph and Imam, the Al Madhi will be loved and respected by the entire world. He will possess and redistribute enormous amounts of wealth. There is also a “false prophet” of Islam. He is called “Ad-Dajjal.” Al-Dajjal is to be Jewish and have one eye. Hmmm… The Muslims must have been very excited when Moshe Dayan was the leader of the Israelis. Muslims have branded some Americans as Ad-Dajjal also. How did Mohammed become the Prophet of Allah? Muslim biographers of Mohammed tell us that he was in a cave and was overcome by an angel (they believe this to have been Gabriel). The angel suffocated and strangled Mohammed so that he was overwhelmed and thought he would die. The angel demanded that Mohammed “recite”. Mohammed protested that he could not as he was not a “kahin” (an estatic utterer of poetry in Arabia). These “kahin” were believed by Arabians to be possessed by demons. The angel physically accosted him three times until he reached the end of his endurance. Then suddenly he found the words of a new scripture pouring forth from his mouth. One Muslim theologian tells us: “The prophet was purely passive – indeed unconscious; the book was in no sense his, neither its thought, nor language, nor style:” Mohammed, it seems, was a “channeler” of Allah’s words – similar to the way spiritists today seek to channel “ancient wisdom”. Mohammed as NOT convinced that his experience was of God. He thought he was either crazy or possessed. According to his biographers he planned to kill himself rather than to live with the humiliation of being “an ecstatic poet or a man possessed.” But Allah stopped him before he could throw himself off a high place. Does it really work that way? The Bible tells us that “prophecy did not come in ancient times by the will of men; but holy men of God spoke as they were led of the Holy Spirit.” (1 Peter 1:21) The Bible also tells us that the gift of prophecy is NOT an out-of-control experience, but can be controlled by, and is subject to the person prophesying. (1 Cor. 14:30-32) Contrast Mohammed’s experience with the Biblical examples of angels dealings with humans. The angel would comfort the person and tell them not to be afraid. Gen 15:1, Dan 8:15-19, Mat 28:5, Rev 1:17 SPIRIT of Antichrist 1 John 4:2-3 (KJV) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. SPIRIT of Antichrist 1 John 2:22-23 (KJV) Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. ALSO 2 John 1:7 SPIRIT of Antichrist 2 John 1:7 (KJV) For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. What do Muslims mean when they call Jesus the Messiah? What does the Bible mean when it calls Jesus the Messiah? TAWHID and SHIRK “Tawhid” is the Muslim doctrine of the absolute ONENESS of God. Allah is completely alone in the universe. There is no other remotely like him. This is not an arguable point in Islamic thought. It is an absolute commandment. “Shirk” is the opposite understanding of Tawhid and is considered idolatry. Christians are considered pantheists who represent shirk. Muslims consider shirk a worse crime/sin than rape and murder. Muslims Refuse Christ as the Son of God No less than five times the Quran denies that God has begotten a son. Surah 19:88-92 says it is “gross blasphemy” that God should beget a son. Surah 9:30 “…the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the truth.” NEXT TIME: IF THE MAHDI COULD BE THE ANTICHRIST… HOW COULD A GERMAN-LED EUROPE, THE POPE, AND A RESURRECTED ROMAN EMPIRE BE PART OF THE END-TIME SCENARIO?
