Description of series and its contents:
The Institute pertained to a study of Modern China and was held at Winthrop College in 1968.
The series includes lists of applicants and participants, applications, correspondence, mailing lists,
transcripts, confidential information sheets, project proposals and outlines, financial records, teaching
and reference materials, reports, vitas of faculty, evaluation, and brochures. Minutes of the Committee
on Asian Studies are included with correspondence and related records.
From the total list of applicants, forty success and approximately thirty-six alternate applicants
were chosen. The remainders were considered unsuccessful applicants.
The arrangement is by chronological or alphabetical order depending upon the content title.
Federal publications and photographs were transferred to Documents and W427.2-1
(Photograph)- National Defense Education Act Institute (M), respectively.
