Division Two Men

RD 5 - RECAP
DIVISION
TWO
MEN
Bushrangers 58 - Gators 89: A 25-6 third quarter
put this game to bed, the visiting Gators correcting
their young season with another win. The home
team just can’t find consistency from qtr to qtr, and
it’s proving very costly this far. Justin Eckhardt (21)
continued his good form for the winners, while for
the Bushrangers it was Liam Wright (18pts) doing
what he could to lead his team.
Warriors 80 - Heat 66: Pakenham ensured the win
with a commanding 21-9 start, waking up Mildura in
the process. Calvin Henry (23pts) was back for the
Heat, but it mattered little as the Warriors clamped
down in defence and made life tough for their
visitors. Trent Lee (17pts) and Nick Ross (13pts)
were the only Warriors in double digits, but with 11
players hitting the scoreboard the home team
showed the depth that has them touted as a title
fancy.
Suns 78 - Sharks 85: In a topsy-turvy game, the
Sharks led by 13pts at the half, before a huge 20-8
third period put the Suns back in the game. In a
tight battle in the last qtr, the visitors made the most
of their chances and got across the line with a win.
James Royal III (22pts) was one of four starting
Suns in double figures, ably supported by Elias
Kafrouni (21pts, 17rbs), but it wasn’t enough
against the likes of Justin Taylor (24pts) and Corey
Bond (21pts, 10rbs). The Sharks continue to rise.
All Stars 69 - Giants 67: If the Live Stats read
right, the Giants missed four shots in the last 17
seconds to tie this game up. That tale basically
sums up where their season is at. Collingwood
breathe a huge sigh of relief, getting an ugly win
with Wally Elnour (17pts) an unlikely hero off the
bench. For the sinking Giants, Paris Dickson
(14pts) needed a few others to stand up around
him.
Breakers 64 - Eagles 71: Another tight game
across a busy weekend, and again the Breakers
drop a home game. Led by stalwarts Liam Watt
(10pts, 10rbs) and Blake Dickinson (16pts, 10rbs),
the visiting Eagles held sway throughout. Dexter
Graham added 16pts in a good showing as well.
For the home team, Matt Van Dykhuizen (14pts)
led a starting unit that really struggled to get the job
done, the four other starters amassing just 9pts
between them.
Sharks 96 - Bushrangers 55: Sth Peninsula
enjoyed another win for the weekend, easily taking
care of business against a hapless North East.
Racing to a 61-25 lead at the half, this was a
whitewash as the Bushrangers continue to struggle
looking after the ball (26 turnovers), the Sharks
punishing them for the errors with 35pts from the
TOs. Bond (21pts) was solid again, while Riley
Emerton chipped in with 20pts. Jalen Barker netted
20pts for the Bushies.
Dragons 59 - All Stars 70: Camberwell was
upstaged by Collingwood, the All Stars making it a
perfect weekend with two wins. The Dragons saw
this is a good test and they came up short after the
visitors won each quarter. Outside of Paco Albie
(12pts), Camberwell’s starters failed to get going,
which wasn’t helped with Mark Fernandez being
limited to under 4min of play. Manny Hendrix
(22pts) led the All Stars, with Dylan Webb adding
18pts.
Panthers 86 - Heat 67: Wallan scored a great win
against Mildura, sending the Heat home empty
handed from the weekend. The Panthers continue
to prove they are genuine contenders, especially
with Keenan Gorski (32pts) firing each week. The
home team opened an early lead in this one and
never looked back. For Mildura, Calvin Henry
scored 21pts.
