Under a torrid light that burns, a crowd of colourful and enigmatic characters - of a petrous appearance and
of elusive eyes – occupies up to overflowing, a space that seems to be made of solitude and silence. Among
this mass of polymorphous beings, emphasises the figure of a mask with bulging eyes and long hair,
which that contemplates with an expression of fear and the presence of an anguish-skull mask.

The mockery of a drama with a mythological reverse transcript. It is not Venus, who mourns the death
of Adonis, it is Eros portrayed as a stubborn Adonis, who mourns the death of Aphrodite, goddess of
beauty and love. The metaphorical death, after all well known to neither the gods nor goddesses dies,
as much they metamorphose.
But, what we really lament and mourn here, even though it has been painted in jocular and mocking key is
a very serious episode. Here, we talk in a metaphor for the death of love itself; the loss of passion and
desire, that in the twilight of the beauty of the beautiful flesh, is announced - "As the light goes out" - the
next and fatal decrepitude.

Description: Its multiple meanings, this work is, again, an infringement of another classical irreverent myth.
Behind various veils, we guess somewhere the presence of Aglaia, Talia and Euphrosyne - (joy, youth and
pleasure) - occupying a place in an urban setting - lewd and licentious suburb - that has nothing to do
with the idealized, bucolic and pastoral décor with which Rubens and other artists represented them.

Description: We are back against a metaphor that explains a way (symbolized by the ladder) forced a
transition - going from the cradle to the grave - where everyone has to discourse. This painting of a funeral
mood and procession rhythm is a magna antithesis, a capital contradiction, a thin irony-laden black humour,
which the profane is expressed with religious fervour and the sacred comes loaded with pagan accents.
(The subtitle - "From the cradle to the grave" - has been taken from a drawn from a homonym musical
composition by Hector Berlioz that the painter takes as a theme of inspiration and where the painting is
based and justified.

Description: This work of art recreates a mundane scene; is like a still frame of a transitive moment and
shooting that portrays a festive print. An unexpected event that is about to break the apparent stillness of the
group. The tension is palpable in the air. What does the group notice of people located at the top of the flight
of stairs? The paled facial expression of the character that turns the viewer’s profile and the contained fear in
his eyes (ready to explode into a scream) predicts that is nothing good. Of course, something happens.

Description: A spectral light surrounds the whole scene. It is a metaphysical glow, flush, which comes from
above. A ghostly presence of polymorphs beings as coming from the underworld gathers an unreal space as
impossible as themselves. The anthropoid, while sleeping, refuses to close its large crystal eye.
The night is the fear of the unknown. The night is a nightmare and fever. The night are strange noises. The
night is a shadow of spectral lights. Night is the dream of the reason. The night is a convention of cats. The

Description: Tragicomic episode - theatrical satirist whose action is determined around a character with
elastic or rubbery appearance that "throws" his mighty accusing finger against an individual who is betrayed
publicly in the midst of a cohort of polymorphs, impertinent witnesses of the cause.
This work of art illustrates the culmination of the technique that the artist begins with a series of drawings of
the 2004/2007period. The economy of resources, sobriety in the use of colour, purity and cleanliness of the
invoice for the use of "tone down" the preciousness and delicacy almost "gothic" of finishes, leads us by
reflex to the Florentine quattrocento Italian painting.

Description: Inside a cavity of a rocky marine reef or lake, a group of enigmatic creatures and unreal perch
tight at the top of the cavern. This rocky space does not appear to be an occasional refuge, nor do its
occupants
seem
to
be
people
in
distress.
The title of the work of art could help us identify them if it were not maliciously applied in a wrong and
misleading way; worse still, the word "aquanaut" has not been wedged yet so devoid of definition, “The Water
Crew?”
Abdicate any other interpretation that goes beyond mere anthropology. The "aquanauts" are fantastic
creatures, who love the water and where Eros appears half-hidden, wrapped in a beautiful, haunting and
enigmatic costume.

inhabitants

the
Republic
of
Chuchumeca.
They are governing by inept politicians, sectarian and corrupt liars. It is governed by laws that are not
complied or applied in arbitrary manner, capricious, interested and unfair ambitious and corrupt judges. Much
of the population lives off delusion and deception; their face is scarred by vice and the soul eaten away by
envy. They are overpowered by greed, ambition and ignorance. They are cheaters, liars, manipulators, evil,
selfish, wretched, miserable, ridiculous and despicable.

offered to us full of poignancy and sarcasm. This iconographic ultra-reality speaks with a cryptic language
and symbolic of the futility of things, of the banality of the world and the precariousness of our existence,
because all that is left at the end of life is what the Cardinal Portocarrero wrote as an epitaph on his tomb:

Description: A silvery light, surely from the moon, illuminates the entire scene. Scattered, serving as
background, there are a few scattered cottages of humble appearance. Tasters of the night (polymorphic and
multiracial people) roam the streets animatedly.
This work exhales very special aromas and a strange aftertaste flavoured of an old colony from the Hispanic
America.
White, mulatto, and black (as in the paintings of Pedro Figari) seem to monopolize the scenery alike. A
couple of the latter elegantly dressed and with mocking air tearing into the oblique scene ... white, mulatto,
and black, Tabaco, rum and Cuban coffee aromas.

Description: Elegiac work like no other where the representation of the binomial life-death appears distributed
throughout the surface thereof. The bombastic and theatrical composition is available as a great picture
stage, which seems to represent, with a dreamlike vision and surreal, what might be the last episode of the
Passion of Christ. The backdrop is full of meanings. The houses that open to the left and right evoke urban
profiles of the neighbourhood in Madrid hosting the artist since his arrival in the capital. The street that opens
with steep staircases (top centre) is an evocation of his native Cáceres.

Description: He refers to a brothel, where the characters from all conditions are intertwined by interest of
business or pleasure. The presence and the mood of this work brings it closer to a rare synergy to the
traditional internal compositions of Dutch painting: a brooding atmosphere and of certain stillness, quiet and
intimate space encouraged by a unique symbolic content, (Jan Steen, Frans Hals, etc. ...), the term "Dutch
Interior" recognizes this genre that eventually resulted to be topic.
