There are tennis courts, a playground, beach area, pavilions and tables for picnics, and lots of beautiful trees and grassy areas. • At the Pottery Bayou, located in the Winona Lake Village, create a “paint your own pottery” masterpiece. • After the final concert on August 1, come to the Billy Sunday Day and Ice Cream Social for a blast from the past! Take a free tour of the Sunday family home guided by “Ma” Sunday herself (well almost). Take an historic bicycle tour of old Winona with the “Wheelmen” High Wheel Bicycle Club or join in the canal canoe races and watermelon seed spitting contest for good oldfashioned summertime fun. Sign up for the bike raffle all week leading up to August 1. • Bring your bikes or rent bikes at the Trailhouse Village Outdoor Store and ride the bike trails. Near by, over 10 miles of diverse mountain bike trails create one of the Midwest’s most highly touted cycling stops. The trails are fast, and weaving single- track sections along with root and log crossings, bridges, jumps, technical drops, descents and lung-busting short climbs throughout the wooded landscape. Terrain and route lengths trails vary, and accommodate beginners to seasoned experts. • The Wagon Wheel Theatre, which is connected to the Ramada Hotel, will be playing “A Chorus Line” July 29-August 8 . Recitals Each student will have the option to sign up for and play in one recital during the week. This event is one of the student’s favorite activities. Students who would like to play in a recital prepare a solo with their teacher and bring a copy of the piano accompaniment to camp. Each student will be assigned a recital date which will be included in your registration packet. You will be able to sign up for a practice time with the accompanist at the orientation meeting. Chamber Music For Advanced Students This program is available to students upon recommendation of their private lesson teacher. Students will be assigned to a trio or quartet. Each group will meet for coaching every day with Tom May. They will prepare chamber music selected specifically for them based on their registration information. Black Pants and Skirts, Black Shoes, White Dress Shirts. White socks or tights for the younger girls, nude nylons for older girls and Black socks for the boys. This is the concert attire for the final concert. Cowboy and Cowgirl hats and clothing for the campfire hoedown. Swimming Suits and Beach Towels. Campfire and Hoedown On Monday evening we will have a Hoedown and Campfire. Students will receive “Hoedown” music for the Hoedown in the registration packet. This is a fun event for families and students. Plan to wear cowboy and cowgirl outfits! Campus Housing Campus housing is available in Indiana Hall (#11 on map). Most rooms have two twin beds and linens and share a bathroom with the adjoining room. A couple of rooms have four twin bed per room and also share a bathroom with the adjoining room. Three meals per day at the Alpha Dining Hall (#6 on map) are included in the cost. Off-Campus Housing The Ramada Inn is offering the families of Strings At Winona Lake a special rate of $73.00 per night. The hotel is located less than a mile from campus and has an indoor pool. Participants have the option of residing on or off campus. Our classes are at Winona Lake Free Methodist Church located on the west side of campus (#25 on the map). The Village At Winona is located on Winona Lake within walking distance from campus, just west of Grace College. It is a newly restored historic district with artisan shops and eateries. The Winona Lake Village Park is at the north end of the village. This is where we have our “Hoedown and Campfire”. It also has a nice sandy beach and public swimming area on the lake.
