John Cleese is a successful actor, comedian, writer and film producer who was born in Weston-Super-Mare. Ernest John ‘Johnny’ Morris OBE was best known as a presenter, narrator and ‘Zoo keeper’ for the television series ‘Animal Magic’ (1962-1984, filmed in part at Bristol Zoo Gardens). Nick Park (Director/Producer) is a four-time Academy Award winner, and the creator of the animated duo Wallace & Gromit. Tony Robinson (born 15th August 1946) is an actor, comedian and author and co-founded the Avon Touring Company, a Bristol based community theatre company. Anthony ‘Tony’ Benn is a former Labour Cabinet Minister. In 1950 he was elected as an MP for Bristol South East and was consistently re-elected until 1983. Lazarus and Isaac Jacobs were the most famous makers of Bristol Blue Glass in the 1780’s. Their company held a Royal warrant and made glass for the aristocrats of Europe. Mark Watson is a stand-up comedian, author and sports pundit who was born in Bristol in 1980. Born in Bristol in 1935, David Prowse is most famous for taking on the role of Darth Vadar in the Star Wars Trilogy. Wendy and Rosie were Bristol Zoo’s resident elephants. Rosie lived at the Zoo for 23 years and died in 1961.
