Final Minutes
The 02/20/17 District Meeting was opened by Mike C (DCM) with the
Serenity Prayer @ 7:00 pm.
Secretary’s Report: - Alinda H. read the draft meeting minutes from January 16,
2017 meeting. The minutes were approved with minor changes.
Treasurer’s Report: – Peggy R. read the treasurer’s report which was two months
combined. Total credits $2,366.00, total debits $2,410.00 which left an ending
balance of $3,944.06. All have now been reimbursed from the NYE event.
DCM report: Mike C. attended the Area Committee meeting in Berlin, MD. The
emphasis was on CARC – The Conference Agenda Review Committee. The
CARC meeting for District 1 (combined with other Districts) will be on March 25,
Unity Place in Bowie, MD. From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Intergroup Liaison: Bill L. – One new member – SMIA treasurer thanks all the
groups for their donations - no boxes of When & When’s left - no telephone report
- 4,000 visits to website - SMIA is in need of a Gratitude Dinner chair - Serenity
Breakfast is possibly in May in Piney Point - SMIA picnic needs a chair - Lifeline
needs a new chair. A few changes coming to SMIA by-laws – need your group
reps at meeting - bookstall opens at 9:30 – 10:00 am meeting begins - new sign at
church threw off a few people but SMIA meeting is in same place - no nominations
for Vice Chair – John L. will take if needed.
Grapevine Committee: (Need Chairperson)
Web Committee: James M. – not present-no report
Public Information: Roger M. – Placed 980 pieces of literature in different
locations.
Institutions: Mark B & Tracy G. - not present-no report
Events: Alinda H. – Created report for NYE party – everyone I know has turned
in receipts from party.

Group Reports:
Outreach to Groups: Doug McB. Received a listing from GSO of details
of all of District 1’s groups. Working on collecting correct information for each
group to start outreach to the groups. Two groups we think are not active – Step
Sisters and Huntingtown Group. Tried to contact Kevin about the Huntingtown
Group with no response as of yet.
231 Group – Suzie G. – All positions filled – 15-20 people on Tuesday
and Fridays.
Awakenings – JJ – 20-40 people – all positions filled.
A Vision for You –
Beach Beacon – Doug McB. – A lot of people we are going through 3040 cups of coffee.
Bedouin Group – Mike F. – not present
Cove Point Group –

Happy Destiny Group Happy Hour Huntingtown Group Huntingtown Noon Group Living Sober Group – Roger M. – All positions filled we meet
Saturday’s 10:30 am and Wednesday’s at 7:00 pm.
Lusby Group Middleham Men's Meeting – Craig R. – Laid back meeting – all
positions filled.
Mount Harmony Group – Bill L. – 10-15 people on Monday – Thursday
20-25 people.
North Beach Group – Patti T not present – (Mike C. gave report) – All
positions filled – group decided all anniversaries will be celebrated the
third Saturday of each month.
Saturday Morning Breakfast Sober by the Bay Group – Lisa T. not present (Alinda gave report) –
Still eating meeting – attendance good – all positions filled.
Solomon’s Group – Martha K. – All positions filled. Average 40 people.
Anniversary dinner was a success. Starting speakers meeting – every
other month first Sunday beginning April 2, 2017.
Sunderland Group – Dave M – Meeting doing well and Dave will
celebrate his anniversary.

Today Group We Wuz Wurz Group – Craig R. – Healthy meeting- all positions filled
except SMIA representative – 30 people in attendance.
Old Business
Inventory for the District – what are we doing right and what do we need help
with. When do we want Linda to come down and talk with the District?
New Business
Please announce at meetings the need of Chair people for District Committees.
Volunteers to visit groups to encourage sending GSR’s to participate in the
District.
Alinda H. – suggests “service orientated workshop” and will check on Area 29’s
website for workshop committee information.
Mt. Harmony group is sponsoring a bonfire at Serenity Farms in May. More
information coming.
