What is a DNA group?
Note the Strength of Three
A DNA group is a simple and yet powerful way of
releasing and fostering the most vital elements of a
healthy life in Christ. This tri-fold is provided to help
empower any Christian to accomplish the command
of Christ to go into all the world and make disciples,
who in turn make disciples.
Here are several Biblical reasons why a smaller unit
of three can be better than a larger group when it
comes to making and multiplying disciples:
Who should be in a DNA group?
There are just two qualifications for DNA groups.
1. An acknowledged need for Jesus. | Luke 5:29
Community | Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 | Life change does
not happen in isolation, it happens in relationship
with others. Even from the beginning, God said it is
not good to be alone. We need each other for
strength and support.
2. Faithfulness in the process itself. | 2 Tim. 2:2
An Overview
DNA groups meet once a week for 60-90 minutes.
DNA groups are composed of three people (the
addition of a fourth person is the beginning of a
second group, and multiplication ought to be
imminent; once your groups has five people you’ll
want to think about forming two groups.
The groups are gender specific.
There is a facilitator (one individual) needed in every
group to keep the group on task and progressing.
Facilitator can rotate.
Accountability | 1 Timothy 5:19 | Very little would
get done in your life without some degree of
accountability. The New Testament lists some 30+
“one-another” commands. Bottom line, we need each
other to live the Christian life.
Reproducibility | 2 Timothy 2:2 | It is easier to
reproduce a smaller, simpler group than it is to
reproduce a larger, more complex one. Transformed
disciples entrusting themselves and the gospel to
others in discipleship relationships are the bases for
the extending of the Kingdom of God here on earth
(and at UCF!)
There are only 3 objectives to accomplish.
1. Divine Truth - Reading, discussing, discovering,
and applying the Bible in the context of
community.
2. Nurturing Relationships - Authentic, real, and
free from hiding. Confessing sin and celebrating
Christ’s victories together.
3. Apostolic Prayer/Mission - Praying for and being
sent with the gospel to those in your sphere of
influence who don’t yet know Jesus.
Flexibility | It is much easier to coordinate schedules
with 3 people than the typical Small Group of 10-20.
A DNA group can meet anywhere and at any time!

Apostolic Prayer/Mission
The word apostle means “sent one”. As Christians, we
have been ‘sent’ to complete our part of the mission,
and currently UCF is your mission field. We have the
awesome privilege of introducing others at UCF to
Jesus. Take the initiative to share your faith, in the
power of the Holy Spirit, and leave the results to God.
Each person identifies 1-2 people who aren’t currently
following Jesus. Write their first name on the
Missional Map. Keep the Missional Map by your
Bible so you can pray through it as you read
throughout the week.
