The journal publishes research and review articles, discussion papers
and thematic sets. Additionally, the journal publishes “Specials”,
which are short topical papers with significant new data, ideas or
reinterpretations of existing material which will appeal to a wide
audience and merit fast publication (within 6 months of submission).
JGS has introduced a new article format entitled Review Focus
comprising concise reviews of recent research in progressing or
emerging areas of interest. A recent highlight includes the Fezouata
Fossils of Morocco, by Van Roy. Briggs and Gaines. Each year JGS
presents the ‘Young Author Award’ for papers published in the journal.

PG provides a broad, multidisciplinary forum
for both academic and industry authors
engaged in the science and technology of the
sub-surface, rock-related disciplines. Articles range from exploration
geology, geophysics, geochemistry and petrophysics, to reservoir
geology and reservoir engineering. The integration of disciplines in an
applied context, whether for fluid production or carbon sequestration,
is a particular strength of the journal. Articles on enhancing exploration
efficiency, lowering technological and environmental risk, and
improving hydrocarbon recovery communicate the latest developments
to the journal’s wide readership. A recent highlight has included the
publication of a thematic set “Petroleum Geoscience of the North
Falkland Basin” and 2016 will see a set inspired by the Geological
Society conference on "Capturing Uncertainty in Geomodels - Best
Practices and Pitfalls".

PYGS has been published without a break
since 1839 and is a leading British geological
journal publishing original research on all
aspects of geology with a particular focus
on the geology of northern England. The journal also encourages the
submission of papers of a more general interest. The journal has a
long-standing scientific reputation and Volume 50 published some of the
results of the investigations by UK Nirex into the geology of west Cumbria
related to the possible development of an underground repository for the
storage of radioactive waste. A highlight of 2015 was the publication of
Romano and Whyte's 'Could Stegosaurs Swim?'

Scottish Journal of Geology
Chief Editor: Colin Braithwaite
Joint publication of the Geological Society
of Glasgow and the Edinburgh Geological
Society.
SJG publishes papers on all aspects of the
geology of Scotland and its adjacent areas
including the North Sea and North Atlantic
margins. The geology of Scotland is an
important natural laboratory for all branches
of Earth science; many studies in geology have been carried out in
Scotland and SJG provides a forum for publication.
Popular papers worldwide were “Ichthyosaurs from the Jurassic of Skye,
Scotland” by Stephen Brusatte, “Mating trackways of a fossil millipede”
and a review paper considering the Neoproterozoic to Mid-Devonian
evolution of Scotland by John Dewey et al.

JM is well-established as an international
publication covering all aspects of
microfossils and their application both in applied studies and basic
research. The scope of the journal is broad and demonstrates the
application of microfossils to solving geological problems with
an emphasis on taxonomy. The principal fields of interest are:
biostratigraphy; evolution; palaeobiology; palaeoenvironments;
reviews and taxonomic studies. A highlight of 2015 was the
publication of a paper by Jardine, Fraser, Lomax and Gosling on The
impact of oxidation on spore and pollen chemistry.
