T’was&the&day&before&Christmas&break&and&all&through&the&school,&
Everyone&was&going&crazy,&not&following&the&rules.&
The&exemplars&were&hung&in&the&hallways&with&care,&
Mrs.&Arey’s&class&Grinch&pictures&gave&me&a&scare.&
The&children&were&nestled&all&snug&in&their&desks,&
Completing&curriculum&through&performance&tasks.&
And&Mrs.&Caidler&on&her&office&phone&and&I&in&my&tie,&
Had&just&talked&to&each&about&how&we’ll&get&by.&
When&all&through&the&classrooms&there&arose&such&a&clatter,&
Mrs.&Brown’s&cooking&class&had&burnt&the&cake&batter.&
I&swung&the&doors&open&like&the&shell&of&a&clam,&
Just&in&time&to&catch&the&8/9s&poetry&slam.&
The&fire&alarm&buzzing&sent&us&to&the&parking&lot,&
High&school&peeps&feet&freezing,&their&shoes&they&forgot.&
When,&Robin&and&Brandon&said&the&coast&was&clear,&
The&students&and&staff&all&let&out&a&cheer,&
So&back&into&the&school&we&all&moved&quite&quick,&
Just&to&sit&in&our&desks&and&watch&the&clock&tick.&
Everyone&was&restless&and&wanted&to&go,&
Except&for&the&JK/K&class&who&loved&Ms.&Denslow.&
On&the&PA&system,&I&made&no&mistake,&
To&tell&everyone,&“Have&a&great&break!”&
“Be&safe&this&holiday&season&and&please&feel&free&
To&learn&some&new&spells&and&play&prodigy”&
As&cheers&from&elementary&classes&floated&through&the&rafters,&
McGregor’s&6/7&said&they&were&ClassCrafters.&
And&into&their&graphing&calculators&Mr.&Brabant’s&students&knew,&
If&they&didn’t&finish&their&work,&they’d&have&homework&to&do.&
While&Milligan&told&his&students&right&from&the&start,&
Social&Studies&was&important&but&don’t&forget&Art!&
Mrs.&Grandjambe’s&ALC&class&was&covering&ground,&
As&they&played&handgames,&and&learned&Slavey&all&through&the&drum&sound.&
Although&the&bell&would&soon&ring,&the&French&students&knew,&
That&over&the&break&they’d&miss&Mme.&Marylou.&
But&desks&in&the&corner,&grade&4/5&in&their&stance&
Still&practicing&moves&for&their&Santa&Just&Dance.&
Mulhearn’s&eyes&just&twinkled,&his&jersey&how&merry,&
In&terms&of&teaching,&he’s&the&school&Don&Cherry.&
He&coaches&his&students&and&lays&out&the&facts,&
While&Ms.&Pepper&helps&us&all&fill&in&the&gaps.&
Mrs.&Bourque&in&the&office&still&doing&reading&intervention,&
And&I&am&surprised&there&are&no&students&in&detention.&
Because&it’s&the&last&day&of&school&before&Christmas&time’s&here,&
We’re&ready&for&a&break,&oh&that&is&quite&clear!&
Mrs.&Bennett&and&Ms.&Lagare&are&waiting&for&that&chime,&
So&they&don’t&have&to&explain&math&one&more&time.&
Ms.&Massner&and&Mrs.&Mackeinzo&take&out&the&last&of&the&trash,&
Waiting&for&5&bells&to&make&a&straight&dash.&
No&one&in&the&office&getting&slips&for&their&lates,&
But&after&the&holidays,&the&return&of&Mr.&Baetz.&
So&I&ponder&the&school&year,&my&beard&in&my&hand,&
Thinking&of&ways&our&school&is&quite&grand.&
What&will&2016&bring&us:&no&one&quite&knows,&

Christmas Concert
The Christmas concert begins at 6 pm on Tuesday December
15. All students should be in their classrooms between 5:30
and 5:45.
All students will wait in their classrooms until they are called
upon to make their way to the gym for their appearance on
stage. The classes will be called in order of their appearance
in the concert line-up. We will have a runner who will come
to each class to get the teacher and students at the
appropriate times.
Once each class completes their performance piece on stage
their teacher will escort them back to their classroom.
All students should remain in their classrooms until the
concert is over and their parents / guardians come to pick
them up. Parents are encouraged to leave their students in
the classrooms, as there are not enough chairs to
accommodate everyone in the gym. Should parents choose
to collect their child early, please note that they cannot
return to the classroom nor wander the halls. Students will
not be permitted to roam the hallways, stage, or go in and
out of the classrooms and gymnasium.
During this time Santa will be taking photographs in the
foyer.
