Communications Assistant – FT
The UWM Foundation’s mission is to support the educational, literary and scientific endeavors of the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee by receiving, managing and distributing gifts to benefit the
University’s students, faculty, programs and community. In addition, the UWM Foundation provides
leadership, oversight and direction to its affiliated corporations, the UWM Real Estate Foundation and
the UWM Research Foundation. The UWM Real Estate Foundation’s most recent accomplishment is the
Cambridge Commons Residence Hall on North Avenue in Milwaukee. Cambridge Commons opened to
students in the fall of 2010 and is the new home to the UWM Foundation offices.
In order to continue its growth, the UWM Foundation is seeking a full-time Communications Assistant.
This individual will report directly to the Office Services Coordinator/Board Liaison. While there is no
typical day in this role, key responsibilities include assisting the Board Liaison with meeting preparation,
website updates, composing letters, mailing gift acknowledgements, maintaining general staff
information and handling office orders. This individual will also assist the UWM Research Foundation by
coordinating the grant programs, preparing the newsletter for publication and drafting news releases
and/or stories.
An educational background in Communications or Journalism/PR is preferred. This individual will be
dependable, show attention to detail, have the ability to multi-task and possess great communication
