Rules
Please carefully read the rules before proceeding. Any applicant that does not meet the following
criteria will not be considered for the scholarship.
1. The scholarship is open to applicants of Greek descent. Non-Greeks adopted into
Greek families will be considered.
2. Applicants must be undergraduate students (junior or senior level required).
3. Applicants must be students enrolled full-time in a US college/university.
4. Previous winners are not eligible.
Procedure
Please carefully read the rules before proceeding. Any applicant that does not meet the following
criteria will not be considered for the scholarship.

Each candidate will have their name, home address, and anything else that may allude to
their identity, redacted. This is done to ensure that each candidate is evaluated on merit.
●
The candidates will then be assigned a number with which they will be identified.
●
Once the application period is closed, all applications will be submitted to an external
panel of professors who will rank each candidate.
●
The external panel will have a universal rubric with which to judge each candidate.
This rubric will allow panelists to reward candidates based on certain criteria.
●
The highest-scoring candidate will receive the award.

Objective
The purpose of this scholarship is to engage the next generation of Greek-Americans with the
American Hellenic Council, and reward them for their exemplary academic accomplishments as
ambassadors of the Hellenic World in their communities.
Guidelines
Candidates are asked to submit the following items to the American Hellenic Council for
consideration for this award. Please be sure that all of the items have been completed before
submitting your application.

Biographical Essay
In 500 words or less, tell us about yourself.
Hellenic Essay
In 500 words or less, who, in your opinion, is the most important
figure in modern Greek history and why?
Transcripts
Please attach official transcripts from your current academic
institution.
Letters of
Recommendation
Please attach two letters of recommendation. One of the letters must
be from a professor, coach or advisor.
If the individuals writing the letters of recommendation do not feel
comfortable sharing their letter with the applicant, they may either
directly mail it in to the American Hellenic Council (address
provided below) or send a digital PDF copy to
