Be prepared for winter by grabbing your hat, coat, scarf,
and mittens. And don’t forget your wind-chill chart!
Use the wind-chill chart from page 11 to
answer the questions below.
4. At a wind speed of 30 mph, how much
lower is the wind-chill temperature when the
air temperature is –25°F than when the air
temperature is 15°F?
1.
The air temperature is 5°F. How much colder
does it feel when the wind blows at 20 miles per
hour (mph) than when it blows at 5 mph?
2. One day, the air temperature is 10°F, and the
wind blows at 20 mph. The wind slows to 5 mph.
What is the change in the wind-chill temperature?
3.
What is the difference in wind chill between air
temperatures of 10°F and –10°F with 5 mph winds?
