Resident Temporary Parking Permit Application and Your Terms and Conditions It is important for you to keep your Terms and Conditions from page s 1 - 2 You must check the Council’s website to make sure that you have the latest version as we are unable to process an application which is out-of-date. This should ensure that you have accurate and up-to-date information. 1 Who can apply for an on-street resident temporary parking permit 1.1 The address given on your application is your sole or main residence where you live for a minimum of 4 nights a week and is not a car free property 1.2 If you live in a car free property you can only apply for a tradesperson to carry out any repairs or maintenance work. You must provide your written estimate or quote dated within 28 of your application. 1.3 The vehicle must not exceed 2.3m (8’6”) in height or 5.2m (16’8”) in length. 1.4 If a Single Person Discount is being paid at the property you will not be able to apply until the person liable for council tax contacts the Council Tax Section to let them know that you have moved in. 2 2.1 3 Proofs required for a permit Your proofs must show your full legal name (initials or shortened name are not accepted) and address. Proof of residency 3.1 Council Tax Reference Number if you are the person liable for council tax 3.2 Driving Licence Photo Card 3.3 Tenancy agreement (electronic hard copy accepted) signed by all parties and the start date is within 8 weeks of your application or 1 week prior to your start date. 3.4 Property Completion Letter dated within 14 days of the date your application is being processed 3.5 Department for Work and Pensions letter dated within the current tax year 3.6 Gas or Electric Bill dated within 12 weeks of the date your application is being processed 3.7 Service Charge dated within the current tax year 3.8 Landline or Mobile telephone bill dated within 6 weeks of the date your application is being processed 4 The cost of a permit 4.1 The cost of a permit is £6.20 a day. 4.2 The permit price is subject to change on a yearly basis. 5 Where to apply and payment methods 5.1 One Stop Shop as listed below - Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm (Open 10am on the last Wednesday of every month). Box 62475, London E14 1GL – A cheque or postal order made payable to the ‘London Borough of Tower Hamlets’. 5.3 For a postal application you must only send a photocopy of your proofs as we do not return or accept liability or responsibility for any documents lost in the post. Your postal application must not be taken to a One Stop Shop and only sent via Royal Mail. 6 April 2017 Page 1 of 3 6 6.1 7 Receiving your permit Your permit will be handed to you straightaway if you apply in person at a One Stop Shop. Where and how to use your on-street resident parking permit 7.1 Your permit is only valid for the vehicle specified on your application. The only exception to this is for a multi-vehicle permit. 7.2 You must display your permit on the front windscreen so that all the details can be seen from outside the vehicle. 7.3 You can park all day in the controlled parking zone that you live and your permit is only valid in parking bays signed ‘Resident Permit Holders Only’, ‘Permit Holders Only’, or ‘Permit Holders or Pay at Machine’. Your permit is not valid in any other bay, including pay and display bays signed with ‘Pay at Machine’ only. 7.4 The zone written on your permit will be made up of a letter and number, e.g. 'C1'. You can park all day in the controlled parking zone where the letter is displayed. As an example, if the zone printed on your permit is C1 you can park all day in parking zones displaying C1, C2, C3 or C4. 7.5 Your permit also allows you to park in each other controlled zone in the borough for up to 3 hours in a day, in the bays stated above. The 3 hours commences when you first park in another zone. As an example, if the zone printed on your permit is ‘C’1, and you park in D1 at 08:30am, you can park in D1 or D2 until 11:30am. If you are parking throughout the day in different controlled zones your 3 hours commences when you first park in each zone 7.6 Your permit does not guarantee you a parking bay. 7.7 You must not park in a suspended bay regardless of whether or not the reason for the suspension is clear. You should always check all the signs in the vicinity of the bay where you park to make sure you can use it. 7.8 You should always check the controlled times as set out on the signs in the vicinity of the bay where you park to make sure you can use it. 8 Change of vehicle, permit damaged or lost 8.1 You will have to apply for a new permit. 8.2 Any deliberate alteration to your permit will render it invalid and it will be cancelled. Any subsequent application may also be refused. 9 9.1 Refunds You do not qualify for a refund. 10 Data Protection Statement 10.1 The information that you provide will be processed in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and relevant legislation. This authority has a duty to protect the public funds it admini sters, and may use information held about you for the prevention and detection of fraud and other lawful purposes. This may include, but not be limited to, matching Parking Permit data with Council Tax and Housing Benefit records. The Council will also use the information for the purpose of performing any of its statutory enforcement duties. It will make any disclosures required by law and may also share this information with other bodies responsible for detecting/preventing fraud or auditing/administering public funds. We will not disclose your information to third parties for marketing purposes.
