June 15, 2010
Awesome job everyone, we all made it through another school year! Now it is time to
look forward to a very busy and exciting summer.
Water Polo will have a lot going on during the summer break. Our coaches Gary Muzzy
and Brittany Muzzy have set up a rockin’ busy summer program. Beginning the week of
June 21st all the water polo players will begin practices twice daily, first practice from 7am –
9am and the second practice from 2pm – 4pm. The teams will also participate in a few
tournaments, the Nike Cup will be held in Albany June 25th-27th , The State Games will be
July 11th and the Annual Madras Tournament will be July 24-25th. These tournaments will
give the kids even more opportunity to sharpen their skills as many of them prepare for the
highlight event of the summer, the Junior
Olympics.
This event takes place in the Los Angeles area July 31 – August 8, 2010. This event will give
our athletes an opportunity to compete with water polo teams from all over the country.
This competition will help our kids to strengthen and enhance their skills as well as watch
some of the most excellent competition out there. We have two teams that have qualified to
compete the boys 14U and the girls 18U teams. Our boys team will be joining forces with a
club from Chehalem in order to make a stronger more competitive team. The kids have
been working really hard are really looking forward to this very
fun and exciting
experience.

And again a third
place in the 2000

also participated
in the 4000 meter

These swims
were all back-toback. That was a
lot of hard work
but looked like it
was fun! Maybe
we will have
some of our
BCAC swimmers
and water polo
players out there.
There were several of our club
members there to

Water Polo is doing fundraisers for JO.
Harry's Deli sent us more that we actually raised
because they were being kind, and welcomed us
back in July.
Awards went out to parents:
Cris, Katy, Dee Dee, and Jayla for being great helpers.
Jarett Hurliman got recognized for being on swim
and polo and doing both a thons.
Swim a thon brought in over $3000.00 and everyone
got an award and certain members got pins for doing 100 and 200 laps.
Thank you to all the swim and polo members and
family that went to Hagg Lake.
These are possible water polo tournaments. There will be
other games added in the future.

Hello Parents and Guardians,
The summer schedule will begin Monday, June 21st. Practice
times will be as follows:
Novice players: 7:00-9:00am
There will be more to come in the near future so
keep looking for the sign-up sheets at the desk.
Intermediate players: 7:00-9:00am and 2:00-4:00pm
SIGN UP IS AT THE FRONT DESK
Jennifer Lee
Advanced players(high school): 7:00-9:00am and 2:00-4:00pm
[email protected]
Practices will be Mon- Thurs.
Practice times are to allow the players as much pool time as possible. We would like to see everyone at every practice but realize
that it is summer vacation. Both practices are important! Morning practices is when we will be conditioning and afternoons we
will be doing dryland and working on team play. Players really
need both elements. If you don't want to drive to the pool twice
a day, have the kids ask about carpooling.
If you have further questions please let me know.

Notes from the Coaches
Congratulations
SWIMMING:
Blue Squad swimmer of the month: Fara Jeffs- Fara
has been one of the blue squad swimmers since almost right when Blue Crush first started. She
comes into the pool everyday with her swim suit on
and a smile on her face. It's hard to find the kind of
drive she has anywhere else. She will do anything
she can to not let any of the boys on the squad
beat her. It is such a joy and privilege to have Fara
as part of the Blue Crush Family.
This July, two members of BCAC Masters Swimming
will be traveling to Madison, Wisconsin for the 2010
US Transplant Games. Jennifer Rigert and Laura
Ellsworth, both kidney transplant recipients will represent Team Northwest, a group of about 60 people
including recipients of all organs, donor family members (someone who has lost a loved one who donated his or her organs), living donors, and supporters. Members come from Alaska, Oregon and Washington. This is the second US Games for Rigert and
the 4th for Ellsworth.
Masters Swimmer of the Month: Jennifer
Rigert- Jennifer attends more practices than
any other Master Swimmer. She swims her
heart out when I can get her out of her
towel and into the water. Her times have
dropped so much because of her hard work,
dedication and Sumner tricking her into a
harder send-off. She is such a joy to have
as part of the Blue Crush Master Jedi's.
The purpose of the Transplant Games, organized by
the National Kidney Foundation every 2 years, is:
Happy Birthday
Both Laura and Jennifer consider it an honor to get
out there and put their kidneys and gift of good health
to use! They joined BCAC last September to learn
more about competing and in Laura's case, swimming in general. Jennifer has already set records in
her events and both have won several medals at the
World Transplant Games. After 8 months of Coach
Burgundy's workouts, all they have to say is, Watch
Out Madison!!
