April 15, 2016 Math – Fraction action is strong in our classroom. Students used fraction strips for some hands on practice with fractions. Knowing our multiplication facts is essential for success in calculating fractions. Practice, practice, practice! Reading/Language Arts – Our story next week is A Historic Journey. We have also started the read aloud novel, SEEDFOLKS by Paul Fleishman. Due to PARCC testing, we did not have a spelling test this week. Social studies – How did Alaska and Hawaii become U.S. territories? Who won the Spanish American War? These are questions that we learned the answers to as we entered the 20th century. Science – Our gardens are really growing!!!! Please look over your child’s mid-term report with them. You do not need to return the reports to me. Upcoming events: Monday- computer, spelling pre-test Tuesday – Library, Wednesday – Art, Thursday – P.E., Friday – music, computers, spelling test Get outside and enjoy the terrific spring weather!!!!!
