Ewes and Lambs: Unshorn lambs should be treated to
bodyweight according to the dosage table. Zapp Pour-On
controls lice in ewe/lamb mobs in the following situations:
a) when shearing ewes with lambs at foot (up to 3 months of
age) - shear and treat the ewes as above; treat the unshorn
lambs at the same time
b) when lambing off-the-board - treat the ewes at shearing; treat
the unshorn lambs at any time (eg. at marking) up to 3 months
of age.
General Instructions: Zapp Pour-On is not a knockdown
insecticide, it is an insect growth regulator. It prevents the
development of immature lice present in the fleece at application
and those which hatch from eggs in the following 20 weeks.
Zapp Pour-On produces a rapid decline in lice numbers with all
adult lice dying by 14 weeks.
Sheep should be treated within 7 days of shearing. Zapp is
rainfast. Efficacy is not affected by moderate rainfall either before
or after treatment. All sheep in the mob should be treated.
As with all lousicides, management practices which contribute to
good lice control such as clean musters, good fencing and
quarantining of newly purchased stock must be practised.
Treated sheep should not be mixed with lousy sheep. Except for
ewes and their lambs, treated sheep should not be mixed with
lice free sheep for at least 4 weeks. After 4 weeks adult lice on
treated sheep cannot infect clean sheep.
Zapp protects against the establishment of lice populations if
treated sheep are exposed to re-infestation within 12 weeks of
treatment.
Treated sheep can occasionally develop backline dermatitis
following prolonged exposure to extreme heat and sunlight
without access to shade. Do not leave container, hose or
applicator in the sun for long periods of time.
Zapp Pour-On may be used in conjunction with worm control
drenches and at the same time as vaccination.
Zapp Pour-On contains a blue dye to identify treated sheep. This
dye is scourable from the wool. Zapp can be detrimental to
certain plastics, paints and surface finishes. Avoid contact with
such surfaces.
