PRESIDENT’S NOTE:
Hello all,
We had some gorgeous weather for the Fun Hunt and a great turnout. Thank you
to Barry, Art, Dave, Tommy and Bob for helping me get the hunt field ready (put
flags out and bury coins) and Larry for burying the tokens. Also a special thank
you to the members who donated prizes for the hunt: Robert Saldivar, Phil
Donato, Larry & Vicki Ansley and Bob Forston. Nelda and Vicki did a great job of
getting everyone registered to hunt and selling tickets for the Fundraiser. Hope I
didn’t forget anyone, I appreciate you all!
The Finds Boards are bound to be teeming with great treasures again this month.
Another group of Cowtown members participated in a hunt at Dads Corner on
April 26th. Several of them found items that are sure to be on the boards this
month. At least two snakes were spotted. The one I encountered was not happy
with me; I almost hit it with my coil. Not on purpose, he blended in with the
landscape so well; I didn’t see him until I was right on top of him. Anyone within
earshot could hear my scream. I promptly backed up and put plenty of space
between us. That little scare had my adrenaline pumping for quite a while. After I
settled down a bit I was wishing I’d gotten my camera out and taken a picture of it,
from a distance of course! If another group goes out again anytime soon, please
be aware of the likelihood of running into one of these fellas.
See you on May 15th!
Happy Hunting,
Cecilia

Interesting Find Of The Month
Every month exciting items show up on the finds board, but we do not know the story or the
history of those items. So we vote most often on simply what the items looks like. I always wish
that I knew more of the story behind the item, so here is your chance. Email me at
[email protected] The story, history, facts and a photo (or two - six) of a find you are
placing on the board this month. I will post it in this section of the newsletter. Here are the
simple rules. Story must be in by the second Wednesday of the month. If you send photos,
please resize them to reduce the file size. You can also just send in your interesting stories.
Charlie McBride sent in this great idea for your penny’s. $398 of them
The $383 Paint Job . . .
And it won’t scratch . . .
A 1949 Cadillac completely covered with 38,295 pennies! They were affixed one by one using Silicone.
They added over 200 pounds to the vehicle's weight, and took 6 weeks to apply. The pennies are
American, and include an 1817 ''Big Cent'', two Error Pennies, and four 1943 Steel pennies. (but who's
counting?)
If you took an interesting photo this year of our club, your family or yourself
metal detecting, Email me a copy. I would like to freshen up our Web Site
