GOD IS OUR CREATOR. WE ARE HIS.
Genesis 1:1-25
In the beginning the One True God created the heavens and
the earth. He made light. He divided the light from the darkness. He made evening and morning. This was day one.
God created the firmament - air. He divided the water above
(in the heavens) from the water below (on the earth).
This was day two.
God created land or earth. He put
grass, trees, plants and seeds on the
land. He told them to grow, to reproduce and to multiply.
This was day three.
God made the sun, the moon and
the stars. He put them in the sky.
He told them to rule the days, nights
and seasons.
This was day four.
God created things
with life. He put fish in
the seas and birds in the
sky. This was day five.
God created animals
on the earth. Then God
made human beings.
This was day six.

We read the English language in sentences.
A sentence is a group of words that makes sense.
It has a subject and a verb.
The subject names who or what the sentence is about.
The Verb shows action or states a fact about the subject.
Sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a period
(.), question mark (?), or an exclamation point (!). This is
called punctuation.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth," is a complete sentence. It makes sense.
Who was in the beginning? God (subject)
God is a noun. It is the subject of the verb to create.
What did God do? created (verb)
Created is a verb. It states the action of the sentence.
"He made light," is a complete sentence. It has a subject and a verb.
Who made light? He
He is a pronoun. It takes the place of the noun, God.
The verbs created and made are action verbs. They
tell what God did.
Read the text on page one. Find five action verbs of things
God did. What is the subject of each verb?
