It is known for its status as America’s center for finance and culture and for its status as the largest gateway for immigration to the United States. New York City attracts considerably more foreign visitors than any other US city. Visitors should try to visit NYC’s must-see attractions – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s nearby islands. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer. Population 8.3 million Climate Spring in New York is lovely – blossoming trees pop into reds and pinks, sunny days glimmer and even rainy days have a lovely, cleansing feel to them. The temperatures can still dip down to a chilly 40°F in early April evenings, but average temperatures hover at around 60°F, creating days that are perfect for strolling in the city. Summers can be scorching, as temperatures in July and August can climb to the 100°F mark; usually it’s between 70°F and 80°F, with occasional thunderstorms that light up the sky and cool everything down until the sun comes out again. In autumn, city parks are ablaze with reds, golds, and yellows as the foliage changes colors. Temperatures are between 50° F and 70° F, with cold nights. Winters, of course, are cold. It can be gray for days, with sleet, snow showers and temperatures that can easily dip down into the single digits come January.
