This term children will focus on using the software of Scratch.
In music children will be using the programme Chiranga, looking at different eras of music.
The children will listen to songs, identify the beat and rhythms. Children will learn the lyrics
and give an opinion on the range of songs.
For English, to link with topic the literacy work will be based around the
book ‘Stig of the Dump’. This work this term will therefore all be linked to
the topic of the Stone Age to Iron Age. Children will write diary entries, descriptive writing and poetry all linked to the book. Children will be writing
letters in different forms, character descriptions and a range of grammar
aspects linked to the book.
Children will learn the basic use of Scratch. Children will learn how to add
instructions to the sprite and be able to change and adapt the background
and settings. Children therefore will be able to develop their skills on the
Scratch software and become more confident and familiar with the programme to
be able to adjust and change their own Sprite character.
PE
For this term in PE children will be dancing. Children will be able to learn
new moves and routines and use rhythm to form their movement. We will
learn basic steps and begin to learn a dance.
MFL
For French this term children will be learning greetings, numbers and how
to greet their family members. Children will be learning to say and write
days of the week, months of the year and say their colours. They will be
learning French songs to help them learn the French vocabulary.

Autumn Term
RE
In RE, we will be looking at the celebration of Divali in the Hinduism religion. We will be looking at their practices and ways of life, their forms of
expressing meaning and identify, diversity and belonging. We will investigate what happens during the Hindu festivals.
History
This term in history, we will be looking at the changes in Britain from the
stone to the iron age. Children will be able to investigate which it was best
to live in. Children will be able to look at artefacts which are from the
different eras. Children will look at the different tools, weapons and the
objects that were discovered by archaeologists and be aware that it is
these items that allows us to know their ways of life.
ART/DT
In art children will be looking at the time period from the Stone age to the
Bronze age and then into the Iron age. Children will be making cave
paintings using a range of materials and to recognise the features of art
from these historical periods. Children will be weaving their own cloth for
the bronze age. For the iron age children will be painting patterns. Children
will also be looking at Leonardo De Vinci’s Mon Lisa and his techniques to
compose their own self-portraits.
Geography
For Geography, Class 3 will be looking at a range of rocks and where they
originate from. We will be able to look at archaeologists and how the items
found tell us a lot about the materials which were used in that particular
time period. In MFL they will learn about where France is and what the
surrounding borders are.
Once this book is completed children will focus on the book ‘Stone Age
boy’ in which children can write their own stories and recounts. Children
will be able to keep to the topic as both books link.
Maths
This term in maths the focus will be place value. There will be a focus on
place value, addition and subtraction, rounding, mental addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. For the topic links we will incorporate
rocks. There will also be a look at geometry and measurement. Children
will also be able to use measurement for rocks and buildings as a way of
incorporating the topic and shapes by using rocks.
In maths we will link our Stone Age topic by a time line to explain when the
different events occurred.
Science In Science this term, we will be looking at rocks. We will look at
the types of rocks and the changes in rocks. Children will be looking at the
different properties of rocks and distinguish rocks being natural and other
materials being man-made. We will be able to link this to topic to see what
types of rocks and materials were used in which particular time period
from the stone to the iron age. There will be experiments which will allow
children to use the rocks in real life instances. Children will be able to describe and compare their properties.
PSHCE
Our topic for this term in Jigsaw will be “Being Me in My World”. We will explore
the voices that children have within the home, the school and the wider world. We
will look in depth at how we see ourselves and our plans for the future.
