Family Note Today your child looked for patterns to help order fractions with the same
numerator. Children recognized that as a fraction’s denominator gets larger the fraction gets smaller.
They were able to write this as a rule for ordering fractions with the same numerator. For Problem 1,
your child will sort a set of fractions into two groups: fractions greater than 1 and fractions less than 1.
In Problem 2, your child will look for patterns to help sort any set of fractions into these two groups.
