Insecticides were applied with a tractor-mounted FMC 1029 airblast sprayer calibrated to deliver 50 gpa at 2.5 mph, to plots consisting of 4 bushes (within a row) of 10-year old blueberries, with a spacing of 4 ft by 12 ft. A pre-count was conducted on 10 Aug. Test materials were applied later the same day. Budmite evaluations were made on 29 Aug and 17 Sept (Table 1.) by collecting 10 blueberry shoots from the center of each plot and examining 3 buds per shoot with a dissecting microscope for budmite presence. Data is presented as % shoots infested and as % buds infested. While actual counts are presented, ANOVA was run on arcsine square-root transformed data. Transformed treatment means were analyzed using ANOVA and means separation by LSD at P = 0.05. All treatments provided significant reductions in BBM shoot and bud infestations within 19 d of application, although Mesa (32 oz) control was less than the others (Table 1). All treatments eliminated BBM infestations in blueberry shoots and buds by the 17 Sept evaluation period.
