NOTICE OF MAKING
MELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2016
NOTICE is hereby given that Melton Borough Council has made the above Order under its powers contained in section 32,33,35,35a & 38
of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all enabling powers, the effect of the Order is to:
(a)Revoke The Melton Borough Council (Off Street Parking Places) Order 2015.
(b) Make and enact The Melton Borough Council (Off Street Parking Places) Order 2016.
(c) Increase car parking charges in both Short Stay Car Parks and Long Stay Car Parks.
(d) Increase the charge for Season Tickets / Permits.
(e) Introduce free 20 min parking in St Mary’s Way Car Park. (Tuesdays excluded).
(f) Introduce a twenty minute (twenty pence) tariff in St Mary’s Car Park on Tuesday only.
(g)Remove the two hour charge and the four hour charge from all Long Stay Car Parks and introduce a three hour charge.
(h)Change Burton Street Annexe Car Park from a Long Stay Car Park to a Short Stay Car Park (Burton Street Car Park to remain as a Long Stay
Car Park).
(i)Introduce a Tuesday tariff in all long stay car parks (excluding Cattle Market 1 & 2).
(j)Introduce a four hourly charge in all Short Stay Car Parks (Tuesday excluded).
(k)Rename the Waterfield Leisure Pool Car Park to the Waterfield Leisure Centre Car Park.
(l)Remove the current one hour tariff in the Mill Street Car Park.
(m)Introduce monthly Season Ticket tariffs.
(n)Remove the Bell Centre Car Park from the Order.
(o)Introduce regulations to be in force at all times in order to effectively enforce all designated car parks, prevent car park misuse and to ensure
clarity that spaces designated for a certain class of use can only be used for that class and that all users must park within a designated space.
Following consultation and consideration of responses it has been decided not to introduce the following proposals:
(p)Change Burton Street Car Park from a Long Stay Car Park to Short Stay Car Park (Burton Street Annexe Car Park to remain as a Long Stay Car
Park), Note to reverse the changes as in item (h).
(q)Free 20 min parking in all Short Stay Car Parks (Tuesday excluded). Note, the Free 20 min parking will be introduced in St Mary’s Way Car
Park only.
(r)Twenty minute (twenty pence) tariff in all Short Stay car parks on Tuesdays. Note the 20 minute (twenty pence) tariff will be introduced in
St Mary’s Car Park only.

viewed on the Council’s website at www.melton.gov.uk.
If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act) or that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with,
that person may within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
The Order will come into force on Friday 1st April 2016
