Supplying and Installing
Playground Equipment and Related Site Work
at
Churchill School
Scope of Work: The following tasks are included in the base bid for Churchill
Elementary School
1. Supply and install Landscape Structures playground equipment and Surface
America Surfacing for Churchill Elementary in strict accordance with the
attached specifications and plans.
2. Re install equipment listed as “existing” shown in lite green on the site plan.
This equipment will be supplied by owner.
3. Install base preparation for poured in place surfacing utilizing Crushed
Stone
4. The Contractor shall be responsible for removing and disposing all debris
and packing materials from the job site.
5. Contractor shall exercise care so as not to damage existing grass, walks, or
other School District property during the performance of its contract.
Contractor shall repair or replace any damaged grass or material should
damage occur during construction.
Quarry process, crushed limestone... such as is used under asphalt roads. A homogeneous
mixture of fine and medium stone is compacted by tamping and/or rolling to provide an even
plane. The crushed stone base must be tightly compacted and smooth. .
 95% Standard Proctor Compaction (as per ASTM Test) is of critical importance.
 Stone for the base MUST be crushed so it compacts to the above standard, and should be a
homogeneous mix of the following sizes:
 Minimum depth of crushed stone base should be 5”.
 A filter fabric is necessary for crushed stone bases only when Tiles are installed. It is not
used with Poured-In-Place or TurfTop systems. Typar 3401 or compatible filter fabrics are
acceptable for Tile installations.

6. Supply and install Poured-in-Place surfacing, in accordance with the
attached specifications and plans. All bids shall include shipping, unloading
and complete installation.
7. Supply and Installation of 124 Cubic Yards of playground mulch in
accordance with the attached specifications and plans
8. The Contractor shall be responsible for removing and disposing concrete
footings for existing playground, swings, and independent items, located on
the east side of the building. The structure and swings will be removed by
others, cut off to the finished grade. An aerial view of the existing structure
and area has been included.
9. Contractor shall exercise care so as not to damage existing grass, walks, or
other Park District property during the performance of its contract.
Contractor shall repair or replace any damaged grass or material, should
damage occur during construction. The Contractor shall be responsible for
removing and disposing all debris and packing material from the job site.
10.Supplier shall inspect playground equipment after completion of installation
and shall notify the School District of any installation errors or omissions.
The certification letter shall state that there are no installation errors if none
are found.
The following tasks are to be proposed as alternate item:
1. Supply and Install poured in place for the entire site at Churchill
Elementary in accordance with the attached plans and specifications.
2. Supply and Install a additional 2,688 square feet of crushed stone
according to the attached plans and specification.

any type to the surface during intallation process, curing time, and after the installation is

With Certain EPDM rubber colors, Surface America recommends aliphatic (non-yellowing)
binder be considered, however this is an additional charge. Adding aliphatic binder will carry
a 10-year warranty.
Surface America recommends the following colors be used as accent colors
only:
Teal, Yellow, Purple and Primary Red. If one of the listed coors is selected for more than 25%
of the top surface, additional charges may need to be added.
