SCHOOL COUNCIL
Earlier this term each class from Year 2 to Year 6 selected pupils to represent them at our School Council. The
School Council meets with Mrs Price every fortnight to discuss a whole variety of issues. Currently the Council are
preparing for anti-bullying week in November and are running a poster design competition to promote saying no
to bullying.
The council have also met Mrs Turton, our Eco-School Leader, to discuss plans for reducing the school’s carbon
footprint and increase our recycling.
Future plans include developing a Peace Garden and supporting the consultation on refurbishing the school toilets.
Later in the year Year 1 will select councillors to attend meetings to ensure the views of their year group are also
taken into consideration.
The councillors take on the roles of Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary. In due course we will be publishing the papers
from meetings on the school website, so parents can see what the School Council have been discussing.

STARS OF THE WEEK
Each week we present certificates to pupils who have produced good work or demonstrated good behaviour and
attitude. The certificates are presented in assembly on Friday, which parents are welcome to attend. We like to
celebrate the pupils’ success by publishing the details in the newsletter and displaying their certificates in the entrance hall. Recent recipients are:

SWEETS, TREATS & PARTY INVITATIONS
Our school Food Policy states that Fridays are a free choice day for the children’s snacks. On all other days please can you
send a healthy snack into school with your child.
Our policy states that we will not distribute sweets and treats that are sent into school on a child’s birthday or other special
occasion. Similarly, we will not provide children with time to distribute such treats or invitations to parties.
CHRISTMAS PUDDING LABEL COMPETITION
The PTA have once again held their competition to design a label for the Christmas Puddings they
will be selling. They received a wonderful collection of entries and the results are detailed below:

SECONDARY SCHOOL APPLICATIONS
Year 6 parents have until 31st October to complete their secondary school applications. The applications are available for
completion on-line at www.solihull.gov.uk/enrol .
If your child is sitting entrance exams for selective education please still complete an application for a secondary school in
Solihull. If your child is unsuccessful in the selection process and you have not applied for a place in Solihull it is highly unlikely
you will receive a place in a school of choice.
FIREWORK SPECTACULAR
The PTA are holding their annual ‘Firework Spectacular’ on Friday 7th November. Gates open at 5.30pm and the display starts
at 6.15pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance (at a discounted rate) at https://bhpta.yapsody.com/. Alternatively tickets
may be purchased on the gate. We hope to see you on 7th November .
