Although busy with activities, Leslie shares that it was the perfect first introduction to the heart and history of the club and its members. Leslie is the membership & guest relations coordinator and is primarily responsible for assisting members with reservations and facilitating reciprocal club exchange. Leslie helps to greet the newest members as well as maintain the accounts of our current membership. Making sure members stay up-to-date with club information by monthly newsletter and the new website are the tasks Leslie takes most satisfaction in executing. Leslie feels fortunate to come to work at one of the most beautiful places in Pasadena and to be so close to home. This past November, Leslie married her college sweetheart Justin surrounded by family, friends, and much loved co-workers; as she married here at The Athenaeum. Leslie and Justin are excited to be planning a summer honeymoon to Europe and reuniting with close family who reside abroad. Congratulations! ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES INCREASE The Athenaeum annual 5% dues increase will become effective April 1, 2012 and will be reflected on your April statement. Thank you for your continued support of The Athenaeum. Spring is like a perhaps hand (which comes carefully out of Nowhere) arranging a window into which people look (while people stare arranging and changing placing carefully there a strange thing and a known thing here) and changing everything carefully E. E. Cummings (1894-1962) The poem by E. E. Cummings above captures the quintessence through which The Athenaeum plans club hosted events for members. We start by building on tradition, then, add innovative ideas to menus, services and amenities. In our estimation, it is always spring in the club. The dawning of spring will be celebrated at Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 8. Any member who has been at this brunch will surely tell you how excellent the food is. The brunch is also a sure and excellent way to gather family and friends. Three separate egg hunts and the Easter Bunny make this event a must for all children. Make your reservations online or call the front desk early as this is always a sell-out event. At the beer dinner, three domestic beers (two from California and one from Utah) and two international brews (England and Brazil) will be available at the reception. The beer dinner is set for Friday, April 13. For dinner, the beer selection will include German, Italian, Belgian and Canadian. This will be a great event as our culinary team will be preparing dishes to complement these beers. Remember that it is administrative professionals’ week starting Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27. Bring your administrative assistant or secretary to The Athenaeum as a treat. We are giving free desserts to all secretaries. Kindly inform your server that you are honoring your secretary(ies) and they can select the dessert of their choice. We have had many complimentary comments from members regarding our new website. Being able to make your dining reservations for lunch and dinner and for club hosted events is one of the major features of the new site. As well, membership account status can be reviewed and paid at any time. The Rath al Fresco opens Friday, May 25; 55 days and our countdown begins. I look forward to seeing you all at The Athenaeum. Please drop by my office when you are next at the club.
