Dear Chapter Officers,
It is time again to begin the process of looking ahead at finding next year’s
leaders for the MSPS boards several open director and officer positions that
will become available. In addition each year we are also asked to consider 3
individuals among our members that have given their time and talents for the
profession and the community in which they live so that we can recognize
them for their efforts and the contributions.

I understand that the chapter presidents and I at some appropriate time in
September will conduct a conference call to make decisions in regards to the
nominating and awards committee’s recommendation. In that spirit I wanted
to get all the chapters this information early so that you would be able to
connect with your membership well in advance of the MSPS board of
directors fall planning meeting where this will be a matter of discussion.

Your MSPS board has encouraged participation from all chapters to be
represented in the various leadership roles on the board. With the upcoming
vacancies chapter 1 and 4 will no longer have representation on the board
without finding a candidate to fill some of the board openings. These two
chapters should consider finding individuals to represent their geographic
surveying communities. In total the committee will be looking to find 3
individuals for awards and to find 4 individuals for the board openings.
