The DOs and DON’Ts of BIOPATCH Dressing Application DO DON’T DO Apply BIOPATCH after cleansing with Chloraprep and allowing it to dry. Place Biopatch so pre-cut slit is oriented near or under the catheter, facing toward end of the catheter. Ensure edges remain together to maximize effectiveness Don’t place Biopatch on wet Chloraprep. Allow it to dry! Lay BIOPATCH Dressing on top of the catheter hub. It needs 360 ° skin contacts around the catheter for maximum efficacy DO Make sure the edges of the slit meet, to ensure full contact with skin Don’t suture catheter too close to entry point. Providing enough room for BIOPATCH Dressing will allow for proper skin antisepsis at each dressing change. DO REMEMBER: Blue side UP! For easy removal- Place slits towards end of catheter and if Biopatch sticks use Normal Saline DO Cover BIOPATCH Dressing with a bioclusive dressing and date it. The Biopatch is good for 7 days if it is dry and intact. Don’t apply BIOPATCH dressing with the white foam side facing up. If you notice that BIOPATCH Dressing has been applied with the white side up, change it. Don’t leave a wet, bloody or loose dressing unchanged *Trademark JOHNSON & JOHNSON © JOHNSON & JOHNSON MEDICAL LIMITED 2006 Reference 1. Maki DG, Mermel L, Genthner D, Hua S, Chiacchierini RP.
