Xtra Mile Recordings are proud to unleash the hotly anticipated debut album 'Together
We Are Stronger' by rising UK rockers, Counterfeit.
The five-piece British band fronted by Jamie Campbell Bower issue their hard-hitting
debut album 'Together We Are Stronger' on March 17th 2017. Driven by Jamie Campbell
Bower's raw and honest vocals, it was produced by Thomas Mitchener (Frank Carter &
The Rattlesnakes, Dead!) and recorded at Broadfields Studio. The album features
'Addiction', ' For The Thrill Of It' and 'Lost Everything', all of which are fan favourites at the
bands' incendiary live shows. Counterfeit were nominated for Best British Newcomer at
the 2016 Kerrang! Awards.
Tour Dates 2017:
2016 was a busy year for Counterfeit, seeing the five-piece play their first UK headline
tour, which included a sell out show at London's Electric Ballroom. They then toured
mainland Europe, and played festivals including Rockcamp in Germany and 2000 Trees in
Cheltenham in the Summer. They capped it off with a nomination for Best British
Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards.

Simple Forms is the third studio album by Los Angeles-based New Zealand indie
electronic band The Naked and Famous. Simple Forms features the first single "Higher."
The band formed New Zealand in 2007 but relocated to Los Angeles five years later.
The Naked And Famous consists of Alisa Xayalith (vocals, keyboards), Thom Powers
(vocals, guitars), Aaron Short (keyboards), David Beadle (bass) and Jesse Wood (drums).
The band has released two studio albums: Passive Me, Aggressive You (2010) and In
Rolling Waves (2013). The Naked and Famous took their name from English musician
Tricky's song "Tricky Kid", which is ambivalent about the notion of celebrity.

Following Suede’s hugely successful reformation and the critical acclaim for the
albums ‘Bloodsports’ and ‘Night Thoughts’, now is the time to re-visit Brett
Anderson’s four solo albums – Brett Anderson (2007), Wilderness (2008), Slow Attack
(2009) and Black Rainbows (2011) – gathered together in a beautiful media book with
23 bonus tracks.
These include extremely rare b-sides and two previously unreleased songs that are
exclusive to the CD set as are the 5th lice CD and the DVD.
The fifth CD (also made up of live recordings from shows at Koko, London in 2011 and

Kscope release classic psychedelic record from the early years of progressive stars
Porcupine Tree. 'Voyage 34', an instrumental composition from 1992/93, is a journey
split into 4 phases that rocks for over an hour, this was P.T.'s entry into the ambient
trance genre popularised by artists such as the Orb.
Combining trance rhythms alongside more typical Porcupine Tree textures and guitar
solos, 'Voyage 34' was a big hit in the ambient/chill out club scene of the early 1990s
(when it was originally issued as two 12 inch singles). The release is following the
release of the popular Porcupine Tree 'The Delerium Years 1991 - 1993' box set from
Kscope, which includes 'Voyage 34' and other rarities from the band on vinyl.
The artwork was completely redesigned for the original re-release and contains new
images from long-term collarborator with Steven Wilson, Lasse Hoile. Kscope are
releasing this progressive rock essential album on CD presented in a sleevepack

of the strictly limited and long exhausted 10CD Boxset “Contemporary Works”).
Klaus Schulze talks about “Ballett”:
“Apart from „Ballett 1 & 2“ (MIG 01772 2CD) the “Contemporary Works“-boxset also
contained “Ballett 3” and “Ballett 4”. All four pieces were originally intended to be one
composition in honor to my mother who had been a ballet dancer and had died in 1998. I
never assumed that the ballet would be performed with dancing. Then I would have to cut
down to about 15 or 20 minutes and would probably have to throw away all my favorite
parts, which would be quite difficult! The music could have had another title but since it
was the first production I did after the death of my mother, I called it “Ballett” and just
numbered the four parts.

“Ballett 3” once again features traditional instrumentalists such as Thomas Kagermann
(violin, Flute), Wolfgang Tiepold (cello) and Tobias Becker (oboe). Obviously I could have
played Tobi’s oboe or Tiepold’s cello with a sampler but it’s really something different
when those instruments are played live as there is a wonderful interaction with my
electronics. Then, you not only have the instruments but also the musicians’ ego. If I play a
cello sample then I’ll do it the way I play keyboards. However, a cellist or oboist plays the
‘real’ instrument with all the subtleties that come with playing, which a sample can never
reproduce. The pure sound of an instrument is not the crucial thing here however. It’s the
musician’s personality that is important as it determines the character of the music.”
The bonus track “Schauer der Vorwelt“ is very short compared to Klaus’ other works but
there was no room left for a longer track on this disc.

With Kidal, that blaze is roaring. Recorded in Bamako, Mali in the summer of 2016, the
album was produced by Mark Mulholland (Afro-Haitian Experimental Orchestra) and

that's taken two years to make, Ag Mossa says, "because we share the same difficulties of
our people." And the songs here mirror their joys, their pain and their unwillingness to
accept things as they are.
There's a raw beauty in Tamikrest's rock'n'roll. It's there in the driving, insistent groove
that powers the songs, the lean, snaking bass lines and the guitars that twine and twist
around the melodies, and the utterly natural musical blending of Sahel Africa, the
Maghreb, and the West – a reflection of influences as diverse as Pink Floyd, Rachid Taha,

With her debut solo album 'Ya Nass' (2013), Lebanese singer-songwriter Yasmine
Hamdan (Hailed as "Arabic music's modern voice" by New York Times), introduced her
personal, modern take on Arabic pop. In 'Al Jamilat' ('The Beautiful Ones'), she pursues
her musical exploration, while taking a look at the mutations at work within the Arab
world.
While Yasmine's vocals are definitely connected to traditions of Arabic music (to which she
takes an unconventional and fresh approach), the structures and arrangements of the
songs are very remote from its codes, and take in elements from contemporary Western
electronic, pop and folk music.
Her unique vision is fully realised in this album, which she jointly produced with UK
producers Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode, Lily Allen) and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno,
Carl Barât), and recorded with contributions from NY musicians Shahzad Ismaily (Laurie
Anderson, Lou Reed, John Zorn, Marc Ribot) and Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley.

The success of the 'Ya Nass' album saw Yasmine’s profile rise greatly in Europe and
America. In the Middle East she’s enjoyed iconic status since the days of Soapkills, one of
the first indie/electronic bands in the area. She's performed prestigious shows on four
continents and appeared in the Jim Jarmusch movie "Only Lovers Left Alive", where she's
featured singing, onscreen, in one of the film's most memorable scenes.

folk music now.

A rich seam of tunes played by consummate flute player Micheál Ó hAlmhain. Growing up in
Dublin at a time when the city teemed with pipers and pipers' clubs, sessions and musical
characters, as a teenager, Micheál joined Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and became a key
architect in shaping its future.
On this album, from the elegant Murtach Mac Cana and Lady Maxwell composed by Turlough
O'Carolan (1670-1738) to Eibhlín Gheal Chiúin, an exquisite air collected by Edward Bunting,
Micheál shows the extent of his research on rare historical sources. His choice of music for the
album is a delight and runs the full gamut of Irish dance tunes, from hop, slip and double jigs, to
slides, polkas, reels and hornpipes. At Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare,

IMLÉ are an unconventional band with a unique sound, based around 3 vocalists with very
diverse musical backgrounds. Their sound mixes poetry, rap and pop music in a way that has
never been heard before - particularly in the Irish Language.
Fergal Moloney's ethereal vocals blend with Marcus Mac Conghail's intense punk poetry and the
infectious flow of MC Muipéad's rap vernacular. Founded by the band's bass player Cian Mac
Cárthaigh, their mission statement was to create something different that was uncompromising
& honest. IMLÉ's debut album explores the meaning of life, our relationship with the planet and
finding hope within despair.
In their short time together the band have been busy. Playing Electric Picnic, Féile na Bealtaine
(Dingle), Liú Lúnasa (Belfast) and IMRAM Festival (Dublin), as well as TV appearances on TG4's
20th Anniversary show and I Lár an Aonaigh on BBC 2 NI. Along with recording & releasing their
debut album, produced by Karl Odlum. In December last, the band participated in the
international music competition & festival Suns Europe in Udine Italy. A nationwide and European
tour is set to be announced in early 2017.

"It feels like a resurrection," frontman/songwriter Ben Kyle says of Shadowlands,

Noam Pikelny has emerged as the preeminent banjoist of his generation. He is a founding

Asian Fields Variations marks the first time that clarinettist Louis Sclavis,
violinist Dominique Pifarély and cellist Vincent Courtois, long-time colleagues,
have recorded as a trio.
Sclavis summoned the project into existence, but this is a democratic group of creative
equals: “I proposed that we make a real collective, and each of us composes for the
programme.” All three are major figures in contemporary French creative music: this is a
new group with a lot of history. Sclavis and Pifarély have played together in diverse
contexts for 35 years, Sclavis and Courtois for 20 years, but they retain the capacity to
surprise each other – and their listeners – as improvisers.
Alertness and freshness are key qualities here. “We’re always drawing also on a lot of
different playing experiences. And those experiences are reflected in what we write, and
what we play. We’re continually bringing new things to the project, and we keep going
deeper.”
The album was recorded at Studios La Buissonne in Pernes-les-Fontaines in September
2016, with Manfred Eicher as producer.

The unusual line-up of Andy Scott's Group S utilises a range of musicians drawn from the pop,
jazz and contemporary classical worlds. All tracks are written with the specific musicians of
Group S in mind, blending ensemble sound worlds and colours with space for each individual
musician to bring their musical personality to the fore.
Special guests on the album include Gwilym Simcock, Jon Hiseman and the legendary Barbara
Thompson. Ruby & All Things Purple features seven original compositions from Scott alongside
two pieces composed by Gwilym Simcock ('Chapters' and 'Serenade'), 'Sabretooth' by Mike Hall
and 'Little Glass Box' by Rob Cope. Simcock guested on a duo piece on Scott's 2007 release Sax of
Gold. Scott says of one of Simcock's contributions: 'I just gave him a sketch with some instructions
as to the shape of the piece. He did in two takes and it's just beautiful.'
Following an introduction that features the lyrical baritone saxes of Chris Caldwell & Jim
Fieldhouse, the opening title track 'Ruby & All Things Purple' features an array of stunning
soloists, including James Pusey (guitar), Duran Duran's Simon Willescroft (alto sax), and the
sensational Krzysztof Urbanski (soprano sax). Rob Buckland (sopranino sax), Jim (bass sax) &
Elliott Henshaw (drums) display amazing style & virtuosity in 'Eighteen', blending a contemporary
classical notated trio with true feel & groove. A soulful solo from Dave Graham (alto sax) in 'Little
Glass Box' leads into the track 'Group S', composed by Andy & inspired by the great Wayne

The iconic jazz trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker, one of the true greats in jazz, recorded live at
the legendary Hamburg venue Onkel Pö’s Carnegie Hall in 1979.
Baker’s music here is crystal clear, powerful, compact and focused. Eloquently he tells the story of
the compositions he selected for that evening; just five pieces for 100 minutes - Cole Porter’s
standard “Love for Sale” as an opener, interpreted in a slightly rocky way, then the empathic fable
“You Can’t Go Home Again” by Don Sebesky, followed by “There’ll Never Be Another You” by
Harry Warren as a showcase for Baker’s unique, fragile and yet seductive scat, as well as two true
highlights: “Black Eyes” by Wayne Shorter and “Broken Wing” by Richie Beirach. Chet Baker
himself never composed a song - but like no other, he was able to absorb and understand the
best music ideas of his contemporaries.
Three excellent musicians accompanied Baker on the tour: Phil Markovitz from New York on the
piano and the Belgian bassist Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, the trio was completed by the drummer
Charlie Rice, from Philadelphia.

The pioneering jazz trumpeter and vocalist Dizzy Gillespie, one of the biggest names in jazz,
recorded live at the legendary Hamburg venue Onkel Pö's Carnegie Hall in 1978.
Dizzy was on tour with a small group: the solos were divided between him and 22-year-old
guitarist Rodney Jones, a brisk wanderer between different styles, the equally youthful Ben
Brown was the man on the electric bass. However, when it came to drummer Mickey Roker,
Dizzy relied on his own, a player from the bebop-tradition - Roker, born in Miami in 1932,
guaranteed the band's supply with rhythmical energy. Dizzy's passion for funky rhythms had
noticeably increased by the late '70s and was apparent throughout the atmospheric two-hour set.
In the second part of the concert Dizzy invited the saxophonist Leo Wright onto the stage. Wright,
one of the style-defining Americans in Europe and in early post-war West-Germany. He was born
1933 and died 1991 in Vienna. He was - together with Phil Woods - one of Charlie Parker's
legitimate heirs and since 1959 Dizzy's permanent quintet-partner for two years. Wright, as a
member of the SFB-big band, was firmly established in Europe's American jazz scene in the Berlin
of the '60s.

Seminal soul, R&B and blues guitarist/songwriter Johnny “Guitar” Watson recorded live at the
legendary Hamburg venue Onkel Pö’s Carnegie Hall in 1976.
On the night Onkel Pö vibrated and pulsated; not only because of the powerful acoustics of the
venue but also thanks to the vibrant performance Watson delivered together with his wellarranged “working band”, particularly strong in the brass section. The concert took place shortly
after the release of Watson’s album ‘Ain’t That a Bitch’, which saw him move to the forefront of
the funk movement and of course, Watson did perform tracks from that album in Hamburg.
However, you can feel that he was not only performing his “I am here to present my new album”routine; Watson was quite aware that he was playing in front of a well-informed and demanding
audience. A public that wanted to be conquered and convinced. Whoever was willing to adhere
to these rules had a good chance to succeed at Onkel Pö’s Carnegie Hall.

orchestra, to create more and better slow music, and for the solo parts to focus on flow
and things that come naturally to the banjo, rather than attempting to do the nearly

Tigran Mansurian has created a Requiem dedicated to the memory of the victims of the
Armenian Genocide that occurred in Turkey from 1915 to 1917 – which affected
members of the composer's own family in the most direct way.
It reconciles the sound and sensibility of his country’s traditions with the Latin Requiem
text in a profoundly moving contemporary composition, illuminated by the “glow of
Armenian modality”, as Paul Griffiths puts it in his booklet essay. The work is a milestone
for Mansurian, widely acknowledged as Armenia's greatest composer. The Los Angeles
Times has described his music as that “in which deep cultural pain is quieted through an
eerily calm, heart-wrenching beauty”.
The Requiem was co-commissioned by the Munich Chamber Orchestra and RIAS Chamber
Choir Berlin and first performed by them in Berlin and Munich in 2011 and receives its
premiere recording here.
This album is the sixth to appear in ECM’s documentation of Mansurian’s work, a series
that began with the scene-setting ‘Hayren: Music of Komitas And Tigran Mansurian’ in
2003 and includes recordings by violinists Leonidas Kavakos and Patricia Kopatchinskaja,
cellist Anja Lechner and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard
Ensemble, and the Armenian Chamber Choir.

The third of his four oratorios The Crucifixion (1887) was dedicated by Sir John Stainer (1840–
1901), then Organist and Choir Master of St. Paul’s Cathedral, to his ‘pupil and friend W. Hodge
and the choir’ of St Marylebone Parish Church, who first performed it on Thursday 24th
February 1887, the day after Ash Wednesday.
The Crucifixion has been performed at St Marylebone Parish Church every year since its first
performance, and this live recording is sung by the choir of the church.
Sir John Stainer’s most widely known work takes us on an emotional and spiritual journey, and
that journey is, of course, Christ’s journey, a journey towards the cross that awaits him on the hill
of Calvary, Golgotha, the place of a skull, just outside the walls of Jerusalem.
Christ’s final journey was the very journey for which the Word of God became incarnate; the
journey to which the whole of Jesus’ earthly ministry had, inexorably, been leading; a journey
that fulfilled Christ’s destiny, revealed his glory, and completed God the Father’s plan for
creation’s salvation.
This is the first performance recorded in the place for which it was written since the 1999
recording made by the English Chamber Choir. 2017 marks the oratorio’s 130th Anniversary as
well as the 200th anniversary of the present parish church and the 900th anniversary of Christian
worship in the parish that was, in the fifteenth century, to become St Marylebone.
