Day 1: Arrival Siem Reap (D) Upon arrival at Siem Reap airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, later visit the National Museum to discover the history of the famous Khmer Empire and Angkor an ideal start for a journey to the heart of an ancient civilization with exceptional heritage. Overnight in Siem Reap City – Tara Angkor. Day 2: Siem Reap – Full day city tour (B/L/D) After breakfast, depart by bicycle or by a motorcycle trailer for the Preah Khan Temple which was probably the royal residence during the construction of Angkor Thom. It was built at the time by Jayavarman VII during the second half of the 12th century. Then, discover the fascinating Ta Phrom Temple, probably one of the most famous monuments with Angkor Wat and the Bayon. This former monastery is still surrounded by the jungle. Lunch during the excursion. In the afternoon, visit the Roluos Group, located 15 km east of Siem Reap. It represents the remains of Hariharalaya, the first major capital of the Angkorian era Khmer Empire. This archaeological complex includes three major temples dating from the late 19th century: Preah Ko, the temple-mountain of Bakong and Lolei Temple set in the middle of a “Baray” (an artificial body of water). Later, discover the natural essence of Cambodia by visiting a handicraft center. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Siem Reap City – Tara Angkor Day 3: Siem Reap: Angkor Thom + Angkor Wat Temples (B/L/D) After breakfast, visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a huge architectural complex with the famous Bayon Temple at its center. This mountain-temple was once surrounded by 54 towers. On each of the 37 remaining, 4 enigmatic faces can still be recognized. Then, explore Baphuon, which was fully restored by a team of French archaeologists after 16 years of work. Lunch during the excursion. In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This magnificent temple-mountain, built by King Suryavarman II is considered as the masterpiece of the Khmer architecture and art. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Siem Reap City – Tara Angkor Day 4: Siem Reap – Phnom Penh (B/L/D) After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check in. In the afternoon, depart for a first discovery of the Cambodian capital including the National Museum and its collection of pre-angkorian and Angkorian Khmer art masterpieces. Visit the Royal Palace, current residence of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, and the famous Silver Pagoda. It dominates the city by its impressive architecture and the remarkable golden Khmer classical ornament. Then walk towards Vat Phnom, the oldest sacred shrine in the city to which he has also given its name. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Phnom Penh City – King Grand Suite Boutique Hotel Day 5: Phnom Penh city tour (B/L/D) After breakfast, depart for an excursion to Phnom Chisor. Visit the pre-Angkorian Brahmin Temple of Suryagiri (1011th century) built on top of the hill (503 steps), dedicated to the origins of the Hindu god Suryagiri. Enjoy the breathtaking views over the surrounding plains. Stop at Prasat Neang Khmau, the temple of the “Black Goddess”, housing a sacred Buddha statue dating back over 300 years. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, stop at Tonle Bati Lake and visit the Angkorian temples of Ta Phrom and Yeay Peau (late 12th century). Later return to Phnom Penh. Dinner at local restaurant.
