11. Mention CSAC Award and those involved.
This year we submitted “The Partnership” Project to the California State
association of Counties – This project addresses the need for clean drinking water
in low-income mobile home parks located throughout Eastern Coachella Valley, CA.
This project funds and oversees the installation of water treatment systems
(reverse osmosis units) that reduce the amounts of arsenic and fluoride levels in
the drinking water at each participating residence within a mobile home park. So
far, four mobile home parks in the Coachella Valley have received treatment units
through this partnership with the La Quinta Rotary Club, DACE (Desert Alliance for
Community Empowerment), Environmental Health, and the 4th District BOS office.
Babcock laboratories also contributed to the partnership by supplying free testing
of the treated water. The Partnership Project is currently following up with three
more mobile home parks. I would like to thank John Watkins for his help in
coordinating and overseeing the project from the very beginning…And, I would
also like to thank Josh Lindsey for all his efforts in writing the award and making
the educational documentary submittal.
