JEAN-CHARLES AMEY
In 2008, Jean- Charles Amey (born in 1984
in France) received a Master’s from the
École Supérieure of Ar t & Design in Reims
and before in 2004 a degree in multimedia
from Belfor t-Montbéliard University. He also
studied in Istanbul Technical University in
2006. Following his studies, Jean- Charles
began to work with designer Rober t Stadler
and now and then with Pierre Charpin, before
founding his own studio in 2013.
« My work is based on dialogue and obser vation. In this exchange with clients, providers,
makers, I learn about materials, technologies and thus histor y to create the right
methodology for the project. My ever yday
experiences and obser vations also feed my
design practice. »

ACCORDING TO ITS DESIGNER :
« GR AN DISSANT is thought as an organic
candelabra, inviting users to change shape to
their ideal. Its design plays with the image of
a tree structure as singularit y and seeks by
its mobilit y to stimulate exper ience. Its DNA
adapts to contex t, from a single module to
multiple branches. »
The two models of candle holders GR ANDISSANT
can be constructed freely thanks to the identical concrete modules (3 or 9 depending on the
model) in which stacking and stability are guaranteed by metallic rings inserted into each
module. The porosity, finesse and variation in
tones in the concrete give the candle holders an
unexpected and elegant aspect, one that evolves
with time. Due to the nature of the material,
GR ANDISSANT should be handled with care.
