As educators we are charged with the great challenge and responsibility of engaging students in learning so that they develop the skills and knowledge they need to function in today’s world and as parents we are responsible to reinforce the need for learning from home. AL MUNTAZIR TODDLERS & DAY CARE CENTRE AL MUNTAZIR UNION NURSERY SCHOOL AL MUNTAZIR GIRLS PRIMARY SCHOOL AL MUNTAZIR BOYS PRIMARY SCHOOL On Thursday 9th March, parents of the third year with their child’s teachers put together a collaborative effort on understanding inquiry based learning which is an educational approach that offers promise in supporting students to become thoughtful, motivated, collaborative and innovative learners capable of engaging in their own inquiries and thriving in a world of constant change. Parents were guided by the teachers to perform various science experiments from resources that are readily available in the kitchen. States of matter, floating and sinking and air pressure were some of the topics involved. Children learn best from experience, they learn by doing; using their senses, exploring their environment of people and things around them. One of the ways that parents can engage with their children is inquiry based learning. The session ended with a Q&A session that allowed parents to communicate with teachers in order to bridge the gap between the parent school relationships.
