WHAT IS HOME EDUCATION
Allows parents of compulsory education age to educate their
child(ren) without attending a public or private school.
The parent becomes the principal and is responsible for all facets
of education.
The Home Education Office does not issue a high school diploma,
books, curricula or materials for home education students.
Examples:
Parental choice
Religious beliefs
Movie stars
Military
HOUSE KEEPING
We do not need, or keep, cumulative folders.
We do not have transcripts.
When returning to a traditional school the parent needs to
bring their child’s portfolio. Educational placement follows
the district policy.
No promotion- only “Z” at the end of the year.
If the student has a pattern of non-attendance, they will be
required to complete a portfolio review. If not successful,
they will return to boundaried school.
MORE HOUSE KEEPING
Student does not need to withdraw from their
boundaried school during summer and enroll in Home
Education to take a FLVS class.
A W24 will turn into a W15 (dropout code) if the student
does not enroll in Home Education within two months
of withdrawal.
Creation of A23 screen – ability to track Home
Education status.
A termination form from the parent is required to
withdraw from Home Education.
